April is Autism Acceptance Month—a time to amplify understanding, celebrate neurodiversity, and commit to building a world that truly includes everyone.

For me, though, this isn’t something that lives within a single month. It’s personal. Every month, every day, is a reminder to accept, love, and respect individuals with autism—not just for who they are, but for the perspectives, strengths, and humanity they bring into our lives and communities.

My stepbrother Bryan is the reason Friends for Life Rehabilitation Services exists. He is my “why.” Through him, I learned early on that inclusion is not a concept—it’s a responsibility. It’s showing up, advocating, creating opportunities, and ensuring that individuals are not just supported, but empowered to live full, meaningful lives.

At Friends for Life, we don’t just provide services—we build community, foster independence, and create spaces where every individual is seen, valued, and celebrated. Autism acceptance means moving beyond awareness. It means listening, adapting, and making sure our systems, workplaces, and communities are designed with everyone in mind.

This month—and every month—we reaffirm our commitment to dignity, respect, and opportunity for all. Because acceptance is not passive. It’s action.
