Our Story
Friends for Life Rehabilitation Services is a collaborative effort that started in 2014. Joanna Kurdi, who is the owner, has an Autistic son, and she spent countless hours searching for the best Day program for him. It wasn’t soon enough until she realized that she should open a day program of her own to help her son, and others who have developmental disabilities. Friends for Life Rehabilitation Services takes pride in its family oriented setting, and ensures that everyone feels welcome. Joanna Kurdi along with her husband Yasin Kurdi founded Friends for Life Rehabilitation Services in late 2014. Official business started in April 2015, and in May 2015 they received their first client. Friends for Life Rehabilitation Services is about to celebrate its third year anniversary of being open for consumers. FFL is promising to continue its honorable duty of aiding and providing service to everyone with developmental disabilities. Program: Our program is a very diverse program that aims to develop our consumers’ job and social skills. It also focuses on engaging consumers with the community through community jobs and community service. Our program also carries a creative aspect to it where we hold informational sessions on the arts, music, theater, and crafts. We also offer several extra curricular activities that you can browse through by checking the sub-menu above. Our services include: Adult Day Services Community Inclusion Community Respite Homemaker personal care HPC Transportation Non-medical transportation Supported Employment Supported Living Vocational Habilitation Non-medical transportation is available to all consumers from and to Friends for Life Rehabilitation Services. Our transportation vehicles are brand new 2015 and 2016 Ford Transit vans that are equipped with what’s necessary to ensure consumers’ comfort. We have several extra-curricular activities available for our consumers. These include but are not limited to computer development, music, art, dance, and community integration. These activities take place when scheduled and as our individuals desire. We are also establishing The Friends for Life Learning Center. The Friends for Life Learning Center is the result of intensive research on how an adult day service program can help individuals with developmental disabilities expand their skills by exploring different learning areas. The Learning Center is a stepping stone for a brighter future for these individuals. While attending the Friends for Life Rehabilitation Services program, our clients will be assessed to determine their level. After assessments, each client will be assigned to the specific activity that aligns with his/her level. This will help in keeping the progress in a steady pace. After each level is complete, the client will move up to the level after it. The activities will be designed to meet our clients’ interests and goals.
