This massive grand golden Euro chandelier arrived severely damaged leaving my clients heartbroken. I was commissioned to totally clean and rebuild it with an even more palacial design. I sourced broken fine chandeliers for their parts from the four corners of the USA. After many days we are close to complete. It is now better than ever and the crown jewel of their entry.

Once in a while I get situations where I cannot safely perform my services because the fixture is hung way too high for the room. This happens a lot in entry foyers. Contractors hang them too high and the lighting value is diminished thus the fixture cannot be serviced or enjoyed. Few clients know enough to question the appropriate height or some access plan. Some clients just don't change any bulbs or clean the fixture. There are lots of options like lowering devices, long chains and swags to do it right. I just did this fine home and the chandeliers were on ten foot chains at ideal heights. Be smart and be safe.

Remember that large nasty crystal chandelier that I posted about on 12/14/21? One of the most challenging restoration commissions that I have ever had. The client was amazed at the results. Call it a miracle but it was days of soaking every part, polishing and reassembling it. The results gleam like never before. Whew!

Most clients ask two questions: How long does restoring/cleaning a modest chandelier take? Answer: 2.5 hours. The Next question usually is: How long does it last? Answer: In a normal non smoking home about five years. That's a wise investment! Here's an example.

Having the appropriate clean bulbs that project the intended room light is important when cleaning a fine chandelier. I use medical tools along with a number options to clean every detail to glisten. When you finish with the ideal bulb then the light refractions make the chandelier the centerpiece of the room.

I get asked about the market for used chandeliers as some redecorate/remodel. It is a weak market for used fixed point lighting. I see fine quality chandeliers that sell for $150.00 used with some being discarded all together. Today's younger homeowners seek clean, easy LED built ins and no longer desire stylish chandeliers. Many are available on FaceBook Marketplace for near scrap rates. A sad reality for these works of art.
