A lot of patients have been concerned about the recent recall for eye drops. All of the drops we typically recommend at our office (including artificial tears like Systane, Refresh, Blink) are safe to use. In the article, you'll find a list of the affected drops. Don't hesitate to reach out to us with any questions!

Several brands of over-the-counter eye drops are linked to multiple deaths and cases of people going blind.

EDIT: We have resumed routine care. Please see our website for current protocol.
----------

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, our office is currently operating under limited hours.

We are asking all routine eye exams to be scheduled for at least 2-3 weeks from now. We will reassess the situation at that time and may require pushing appointments out even further.

We are open for eye emergencies, problems, and glasses/contact lens pick-ups. We are also happy to ship your glasses/contacts to your house.

Please call ahead before picking up, as our office hours have been shortened.

Wishing you good health,
Dr. Tom, Dr. Angela, Debbie, & Theresa

Studies over the past several decades have assessed how eye conditions may have influenced the works of great painters throughout history. From Da Vinci to Degas, read how declining sight changed their artistic style.

Degas suffered failing vision from 1860 to 1910, with his style becoming increasingly rough as his eye disease progressed

Many people expect their vision to fade as they grow older. Such expectations are not unfounded, as the National Eye Institute notes that certain vision changes, including diminished vision and difficulty distinguishing colors, are a normal part of aging. Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide, but they are completely reversible with surgical intervention. Here in the U.S., cataract surgery is exceedingly common (more than 3.5 million are performed each year) and is very successful at restoring sight.

However, this is not the case in countries where access to health care is limited, such as Nepal. For those living in third world countries, developing a cataract can mean a lifetime of darkness.

Often we get asked about "polarization" in sunglasses. 😎 Non-polarized, tinted sunglasses will still provide important UV protection, but polarization gives you improved real-color contrast and reduced glare.

These images help demonstrate the benefit of polarized lenses. As a patient once put it, the difference is like "standard vs. high definition!" 🌈

This is about 6 months worth of daily disposable contact lenses. Contact lenses and their foil packaging are too small to be recycled by conventional methods and often end up in the trash or down the drain.

Bausch & Lomb One by One is a FREE program through Terracycle that anyone can use. All you need to do is:

♻️ Start storing your used contacts and their foil in a small cardboard box
♻️ Once it's full, go to http://www.bausch.com/our-company/one-by-one-recycling and print your free shipping label
♻️ Take the box to any UPS facility / Staples and send it off

It's that easy to make a difference!

Please share this information so every contact lens wearer has the opportunity to participate in this easy recycling program! 🌎
