Have you heard of Internal Family Systems (IFS) as a therapy model? IFS is a really interesting way of looking internally at each of the parts of ourselves and the roles they play. IFS can be very helpful in treating depression, anxiety, and trauma, but also just improves emotional regulation and resilience! The first time I heard this quote about comparing your chapter 1 to another person's chapter 20 it really hit me. In our society, comparison is so easy because of social media. But it is important to remember that everyone's path is different and we are all faced with different challenges. Have you heard people say that emotions are like waves? Our emotions can vary in intensity, they build up to a breaking point and then fall back down. Sometimes our emotions are calm and sometimes they feel more like the rough surf, but they always move. You will not be stuck in one feeling forever! So to get through the difficult moments because eventually it will quiet back down.

Gratitude can be such a helpful tool for supporting your mental and physical health. Start small. Take a few minutes at the end of your day to reflect on just one thing you are grateful for from that day. Maybe the sun was shining. Maybe a great cup of coffee. You could even try keeping a gratitude journal and when things feel tough, look back on what you wrote. You may be surprised how much of a difference these little moments can make in your day.

Everyone sets goals that sometimes feel overwhelming or impossible but the problem is not necessarily the goal. Maybe the path you are on is too challenging for you at this moment, and that's ok! Work on by breaking it into smaller steps or finding a different route altogether. If the goal is important to you there is no reason to abandon it completely, you may just need to find a different way to get there. 💜💜
