The HEALR Program, a Medicaid workforce initiative, provides student loan repayment assistance to healthcare professionals who commit to working in high-needs areas.

Titles eligible for assistance through the HEALR Program are:
⚕️ Dentists
⚕️ Nurse Practitioners
⚕️ Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialists
⚕️ Primary Care Physicians
⚕️ Psychiatrists

As for the new deadlines:
📆 Providers have until March 31, 2026.
📆 Individuals have until April 15, 2026.

In order to receive funding through the Caring Gene® Program, you must complete all education requirements by spring 2027. If funding is no longer available at a certain partner institution, that means the educational programs they offer cannot be completed by spring 2027.

You may still apply to attend any of these institutions, but tuition, books, and other fees will not be covered by the Caring Gene® Program.

The Caring Gene® is a workforce improvement organization (WIO) administering the Career Pathways Training Program to residents of 30 counties in New York State. We can only provide funding for eligible residents in those counties.
