Nurses are like angels here on earth and Amy Funiciello has been our angel here at Schuyler Ridge for a remarkable 27 years! "Being a registered nurse is so much more than a career," she says. "Every day I get the privilege to care for people during some of their hardest and most vulnerable times. Sometimes that means easing pain, offering comfort or just a listening ear, and sometimes it’s simply just being present. Schuyler Ridge has been my career home for the past 27 years and I couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of this amazing team!" Amy says Schuyler gave her the opportunity for career growth and she will always be grateful. Well, we are grateful to have you on our team, Amy! Join Schuyler Ridge in wishing a very Happy Birthday to six of our beloved residents who turned 100 or older this month! We celebrated our birthday boy and 5 birthday girls with a big party, a big cake, and smiles all around (but we did hold back on the number of candles lighted on the cake, lol!) Congratulations to (left) Eddie Boucher, LPN, from our evening Sub Acute Rehab, who has been named our August Employee of the Month here at Schuyler Ridge. Ed's colleagues in sub acute rehab celebrated his win, including (l to r) Joy Wilkes, RN; Amy Funiciello, RN; Margaret Gina, unit manager; and Julie Thompson, RN. Ed is cited as "the definition of a team player," always willing to go out of his way to do anything for his patients. Staff and families know him for his kindness, compassion and understanding. When was the last time you saw someone with such a big smile where you work? Meet Dan Lucke, a dedicated member of our maintenance staff here at Schuyler Ridge. Dan is celebrating his 25th anniversary of service this month! What has kept Dan here for so long? He says simply that he loves the people and he loves his job! Well, we love you too, Dan! "You're never too old to learn," says Schuyler Ridge resident Ruth Scinto who put her words where her mouth is! At age 105, Ruth was just awarded her High School Diploma! Born in 1919, Ruth grew up at a time when young teens often had to leave school and get a job to help support family, or stay home and care for siblings, or even join the war effort. But through the decades, Ruth never gave up on her education and never lost her zeal to learn so she met with a tutor twice a week here at Schuyler Ridge until she earned her diploma this month! Ruth is thankful for the TriCounty Literacy in Glens Falls for making her dreams possible. Congratulations, Ruth, YOU DID IT!!! ❤🎓👩‍🎓

Creating "moments of joy" for seniors is what Activities Assistant Renee Strock says drives her here at Schuyler Ridge. Join us in celebrating Renee who is marking 22 remarkable years with the system. She started in 2003 as a general practice nurse for 9 years at sister affiliate Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center before she found her real passion in the Activities Department there. "Years of experience taught me a deeper understanding of people who live with dementia, their families and end of life care," says Renee. "I am fulfilled as an Activities Assistant because of my ability to create moments of joy for residents (and who ever is nearby.)" Thank you, Renee, for never hesitating to act silly, or dress up in zany costumes for every occasion, but most of all, thank you for all the joy and smiles you've brought to all our residents! 🥰❤🤪

Guess what... June 12-18 is National Certified Nursing Assistants Week and one of our CNAs happens to be our Employee of the Month here at Schuyler Ridge! Meet Rose Gauney, who works in the Fenimore Unit here. She has been a CNA for more than 30 years and caring for our residents for 9 years. She says she simply loves taking care of people and the family culture here. "I treat people the way I want to be treated," says Rose. She recalls when one of the residents passed, their family wrote in the obituary that Rose took such good care of her that she was like a family member. "When something like that happens, you know you’re doing your job well," says Rose. Congratulations, Rose, and thanks to ALL our CNAs for the wonderful care they provide to our residents! ❤
