During this season of thanks, Schuyler Ridge would like to express our sincere gratitude for our cherishd residents and their families. We appreciate the trust you place in us for your care. We are also thankful for the incredible staff, including doctors, nurses, activities coordinators, dining staff, and all the dedicated individuals who work behind the scenes to bring smiles to the faces of our residents. Residents here at Schuyler Ridge are warm with excitement as the Thanksgiving Holiday nears! They got into the spirit of things early with their Annual Turkey Trot. Residents, staff, and volunteers all participated in the fun event put on by CCL Hospitality Group. Residents began with warmups to great music, then did their "trot" around the building. Other residents enjoyed a ride on the course pushed in their wheelchairs. Everyone was a winner in this race, all receiving medals. But we think the best prize was everyone being able to move around a bit and seeing all the smiles on the faces of our residents! Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

Schuyler Ridge held a Veterans Day ceremony on Tuesday to honor those residents who have served our country. We presented each with a Certificate of Appreciation. Several honorees spoke about their time in military service. The heartfelt ceremony was attended by residents, staff, and family members. We extend our sincere gratitude to ALL the Veterans and their families for their courage and sacrifice! ❤

The staff here at Schuyler Ridge are as talented and creative as we are caring. Just check out these entries for our Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Each of our departments/units participated in the fun event and our residents, staff, and visitors got to vote for their favorite at our Halloween party. Which one do YOU think was the best? Every week at Schuyler Ridge, our Dining Services Team educates our resident community on healthy food options. Take sweet potatoes, for example, it's a SUPERFOOD that is both healthy and flavorful! Executive Chef Amanda served up two delicious snacks that showed off nutrition and taste -- a "sweet" Sweet Potato Chip in cinnamon and sugar; and a "savory" Sweet Potato Chip in salt and rosemary! We even adapted a seasoned sweet potato fries version for those residents on soft diets to ensure that everyone could enjoy!

Did you know that there are different types of dementia? How do you talk with loved ones who suffer from memory impairment? What can you do to maintain connections with those affected? Learn the answers to these questions and more at Schuyler Ridge's special presentation, "The Basics of Dementia: A Family Educational Session," with Mary-Lou Ga***rd, MS, Thursday, 11/6, 6 pm, at Schuyler Ridge, Main Dining Room, Abele Blvd., Clifton Park. Mary-Lou has extensive long-term care experience with a master's degree in Gerontology and Recreational Therapy. The program is free of charge. All families are encouraged to attend. Here at Schuyler Ridge, our residents just LOVE to engage in fun, stimulating activities that also contribute to their physical and mental health and wellbeing. Meet Mary-Lou Ga***rd, one of the masterminds behind our awesome activities program. Mary-Lou engages every resident in activities that meet their interests, making sure to focus on those residents who have dementia. With extensive experience in long-term care, Mary-Lou has a master's degree in Gerontology and Recreational Therapy. Her passion runs deep for establishing and maintaining that special human connection with seniors as they age. We are fortunate to have Mary-Lou at Schuyler Ridge where she happily shares her expertise with our other sister facilities within our Eddy network.
