IHA in the news: The Daily Gazette spotlights IHA member hospitals — including Nathan Littauer Hospital and Ellis Medicine — as New York prepares to deploy $212 million in federal Rural Health Transformation Program funding across 47 rural counties.

IHA President & CEO Kevin Kerwin told the Daily Gazette: "This is an important program for us to be able to leverage. Our members will do everything in their power to make sure they're able to meet that deadline."

He also called for sustained state investment to ensure the innovations built under the program can stand on their own: "We've got to get through those first initial years to be able to get something off the ground effectively."

The program targets integrated care networks, digital health, workforce development, and cybersecurity — but Kevin was clear it doesn't come close to offsetting the $8 billion hit New York hospitals face under H.R. 1. IHA will keep pushing for what our members need.

Last week, IHA President & CEO Kevin Kerwin was proud to be part of something special in Saranac Lake. 🏔️

The Adirondack Health Foundation brought together more than 80 local leaders for their first-ever Rural Health Symposium — a day of honest conversation about the challenges and opportunities facing rural healthcare in the Adirondacks. Kevin delivered the keynote, and the discussion that followed covered everything from workforce shortages and access to care to the community partnerships that make rural health systems strong.

These are the conversations that matter. Proud to support our member Adirondack Health and the communities they serve. 💙

The Press-Republican recently featured last week’s Healthcare Educational Consortium meeting at Adirondack Medical Center, where IHA joined education and healthcare leaders to discuss developing an Early College Health Sciences pathway tailored to the Adirondack region.

This initiative— supported by renewed funding from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation— aims to create new opportunities for local students by helping them:

• Earn college credits
• Gain hands-on clinical experience
• Build direct connections with local healthcare employers

All of this work supports a stronger, more sustainable healthcare workforce pipeline for communities across Upstate New York.

It’s truly inspiring to see schools, colleges, hospitals, and community partners coming together to invest in the future of regional healthcare. 🏥

BIG NEWS! 🎉 The Iroquois Healthcare Association has been named a 2025-2026 grantee of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation!

With their generous support, we can expand our Healthcare Educational Consortium to three sites across Upstate New York, creating pathways for local students to become the nurses and healthcare professionals our communities need - without leaving home.

Students in Franklin and Tompkins Counties, along with one additional site to be determined, will earn college credits while still in high school, gain real clinical experience, and build meaningful careers right here in their communities.

We are deeply grateful to the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation team and look forward to sharing the impact we're making together.
