One of the sciences behind float therapy is that of sensory deprivation. Sounds scary, right? It’s not. Think about our five senses; taste, touch, sound, sight/light and smell. All of these are fairly difficult to escape in every day life. Sound is certainly one of the more difficult. But all contribute to the every day stresses of life.
In our pods, we encourage first time floaters do use our introductory float tracks that we provide. What is this? During your 60 minute float, this will give you 10 minutes of soft meditating music to ease your way into your session. The track will then turn off and enter silence mode for 45 minutes. Finally, as your session is about to come to an end, five minutes before the end of your session, the music will kick back on to gently wake you up and alert you that it is almost time to exit.
As your float therapy practice progresses through time, many avid floaters choose not to use any musical tracks at all. The true sense of sensory deprivation can only be reached with the elimination of all five senses.
