The opportunity to come together and discuss an important topic that affects so many of us: mental health and its significance in our lives.
Introduction:
I have been working as a counselor helping individuals from diverse backgrounds and ages ranging from 8 to 80 years old. My journey into this field began when I was just a child living in Pakistan. At the age of 8, I often noticed how people labeled those struggling with mental health challenges and these individuals were misunderstood, marginalized, and judged.
This made me deeply uncomfortable. I often wondered: Why were they different? Why were they treated with such disregard? These questions ignited a desire in me to understand mental health and advocate for those struggling with it. Alhamdulillah, this led me to pursue a career in counseling, study the psychology of the brain, and learn how to identify and treat mental health challenges.
I am part of IAGD mosque , the MUHSEN organization. I did a social event at IAGD meeting room regarding how counseling would be effective. I know various languages such as Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi.
I am very easy going, have holistic approach and believe that everyone deserves to be treated fairly. I feel comfortable talking in the languages stated above, so don’t feel the pressure to communicate in English only. I was born in Qatar,Doha, immigrated to Canada and now residing in Michigan USA. I have worked with Salvation Army, several different hospitals and non profits organizations. I am here to help, understand, and listen. Currently, I am part of The Center of Wellness, working with diverse population.
To truly make a positive impact in your life, you must take care of yourself and your relationships. But remember: your well-being directly affects your ability to care for others and fulfill your other responsibilities.
