Face Addiction Now

Face Addiction Now WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2007 as a grassroots organization, Face Addiction Now (FAN) is based in Macomb County, Michigan. Many are between the age of 18-25.

Face Addiction Now is a nonprofit guiding individuals, families, & communities affected by substance use disorder by coordinating care and reducing stigma, through a variety of programs & resources, at no cost, fostering a path towards healing & recovery. FAN’s membership includes parents affected by addiction, concerned citizens, law enforcement, judges, leaders in education, business, and religion, and people in recovery from a substance use disorder. FAN has expanded to more than 20 chapters throughout the state of Michigan. WHAT WE DO
We work tirelessly to raise awareness and educate communities about the dangers of prescription narcotics (e.g., Vicodin, Oxycontin, and Percocet), as well as other drugs. We also offer compassionate support and services to individuals and families affected by addiction. Our initiatives include Hope Not Handcuffs, the Comeback Quick Response Team post-overdose wellness check, and Stronger Together, a 12-step program for friends and family of those with a substance use disorder. (For information on all the programs FAN offers, visit our website at faceaddictionnow.org)

THE NEW FACE OF ADDICTION
Prescription drugs have become the “drug of choice” among young people aged 12-18. Most who misuse these drugs believe they are safer than illicit drugs because they are prescribed by health care professionals. Yet, prescription painkillers are every bit as addictive and deadly as heroin, when abused. Nearly 255 people die from drug overdoses every day in the United States. Thousands more are struggling or in recovery. These are good kids from good families. And it’s happening everywhere--no neighborhood is immune. Be informed. Knowledge saves lives. TOGETHER WE CAN DO MORE
Join us in keeping our families and communities safe:
• Challenge doctors and dentists to prescribe non-narcotic painkillers for you and your family
• Safeguard narcotic painkillers and dispose of unused medications responsibly
• Talk to your children about the dangers of abusing prescription medications and heroin use
If you suspect a loved one is in trouble, seek help immediately.

Our Hope Not Handcuffs team and Call Center were on top of their game again in January, helping people with compassion, empathy, and hope.🩵

Hope Not Handcuffs connected 𝟯𝟲𝟲 people to treatment for their drug or alcohol addiction in January. Our unbelievable Call Center team also answered 𝟯,𝟮𝟰𝟳 calls—an average of almost 𝟭𝟬𝟱 per day! Here's hoping all the men and women who went to treatment last month can end the thing that's not working for them and find recovery.💙

Thank you to Mary S. and Freda V., the volunteer Angels who helped us with the process. And—as always—our deepest gratitude to the many law enforcement agencies and community partners who collaborated with us in January. We couldn't do what we do without you! (𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.)👮

We’re proud to celebrate three incredible partners making a difference in our community.

Mark and Marnie, FAN Case Managers embedded with the Sterling Heights Police Department, were honored by the City of Sterling Heights with the Outstanding Performance of the Year Award for their compassionate, hands-on work connecting residents to resources, support, recovery, and hope.

We also want to congratulate Joshua J. Selby, who was named Detective of the Year. In addition to his work as a SHPD detective, Joshua partners closely with FAN's ReDirect program and our Sterling Heights Quick Response Team, helping strengthen the bridge between public safety and community support.

This is what true collaboration looks like — law enforcement and community care working side by side to help people move forward.

Congratulations to all three on this well-deserved recognition! 👏💙

💙 Shout out to Diane Renee Soulliere

Ahead of Tuesday’s Detroit Street Outreach Blitz, Diane mobilized her network to prepare 500 sandwiches, which were picked up and distributed throughout the night by our HARM:LESS team, FAN’s Detroit Quick Response Team, and the many outreach partners involved in this winter’s Blitz.

Support like this helps create meaningful points of connection during outreach, and we’re grateful for her continued commitment to our community. 💙

💜 𝗧𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻.

From 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Tuesday, outreach teams from across the region came together for the annual 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘇—covering the entire city to connect with neighbors facing homelessness, substance use challenges, and urgent unmet needs.

Working side by side, organizations provided support across housing navigation, harm reduction, spiritual care, human trafficking response, hygiene supplies, food access, connections to ongoing services, and even veterinary care for pets.

We’re proud of our FAN team—Ariel, Colleen, Kelly Jo, Erin, Hope, Nick, and Akilah—who represented our Detroit Quick Response Team and HARM:LESS programs, with Colleen and Kelly Jo serving as district leaders helping guide the day’s efforts.

Other groups participating included ACCESS, Motor City Mitten Mission, Detroit Recovery Project, Street Medicine Detroit, and more.

Ten hours. Countless connections. One shared mission: showing up for Detroit’s most vulnerable neighbors. 💙🤝
