Taylor Speech Therapy Speech therapy services to help little ones find their voice. My name is Cary Taylor. I have lived in the West Central Indiana area all of my life.

I have been a speech therapist for over 20 years and have experience in a wide variety of communication areas. I am nationally certified and licensed in 3 states. I am qualified to address communication and speech disorders including speech sound errors, stuttering, language processing delays, receptive and expressive language delays and language comprehension difficulties. Autism is a pattern of differences that can present in SO many different ways! This is actually super cool - BUT it also creates a world where many Autistic people go undiagnosed and unsupported.

This is because people tend to compare everyone to the 1-2 Autistic people they know. Let’s say a Doctor has supported both Jaden and Leo. They then get Mackenzie in their clinic and end up saying “there’s no way she’s Autistic” - because she’s really not similar to the boys.

This one comment by this one doctor ends up delaying Mckenzie’s diagnosis and access to support for YEARS. And even when other people mention they think she could be Autistic, her parents are like, “no the doctor said there’s no way she is”. And often when this happens, kids like McKenzie will only access a diagnosis if her parents are knowledgeable about autism and strong advocates OR McKenzie gets to crisis levels.

What everyone needs to know: Autism is a combination of differences in 1️⃣ Social communication, 2️⃣ Interests and Routines, and 3️⃣ Sensory Processing. Differences in these areas can look VASTLY different from person to person - and it’s still Autism.
