Today is National "Mother Goose" Day! We were fortunate enough to have Mother Goose come see us today and share some interesting facts about the history of her nursery rhymes, and clients helped recite them and had a few laughs. We remembered more of them than we thought we would! 🙂🪿

Nurse Chasity presented a health class on nutrition and hydration today, with a focus on the surprising benefits of raisins (for National Raisin Day). Clients played a game of Jeopardy to test their knowledge, and even had a raisin taste-test to see which variety was their favorite!

Last but not least, our final Volunteer Spotlight of the week shines on Mrs. Hicks and her students from Union High School, here in Sampson County. They have come to the Center every Friday during this school year and volunteered their time and efforts with clients, assisting with activities and meals, and even spent a few days raking leaves and cleaning up our back yard! Another Volunteer group we'd like to recognize this week is Grove Park Baptist Church Women's Ministry. This group of ladies faithfully comes to the Center on the second Tuesday of every month and has done so for several years. They share a devotion with us each time they visit, play hymns on the piano for the clients to sing, and even bring a snack for everyone! We appreciate their time and all that they share with us each month!

Today's Volunteer Spotlight Shines on Dusty Glover from Sampson Regional Outpatient Rehabilitation and Kristy Bland from Sampson Regional Medical Center .

These two lovely ladies have partnered with us to come out several times a year and host various health and education clinics. They bring lots of educational materials and sweet smiles to share with clients and staff each time they come. Who knew learning about our health could be so much fun?! Thank you both so much for your commitment to the care and betterment of our seniors in Sampson County!

Yet another wonderful Volunteer Spotlight, Mac and Lila Maxwell (along with their daughter and other friends at times) come to the Center on the Third Thursday of every month and have done so for a few years now. They bring in music CDs by the armful, along with all their fancy equipment, and host an entertaining few hours of Karaoke and Dancing! We appreciate their time and talents so much!

Savannah Jones from Southwood Nursing and Rehabilitation ( Liberty Home Care and Hospice ) takes time out of her busy schedule each month to come lead an activity with clients at the Center. She always brings smiles and surprises, and we look forward to seeing what she has planned for us each month. We thank you Savannah for showing such love and care to our senior population!
