Today is the Great American Smokeout, a perfect moment to take a step toward a healthier you. ❤️

Do you smoke? Now's the time to make a plan to quit, ideally for one day and then for good!

Here are some steps you can take to quit smoking:

1. Talk with your provider. If you need one, we can help!
2. Join smoking cessation programs.
3. Use apps like quitSTART or BecomeAnEx.org, or text SMOKEFREE for encouragement.

Did you know, your body starts to heal the moment you stop smoking? In fact, within 20 minutes, your heart and blood pressure begin to improve. In 12 hours, carbon monoxide drops, and long-term risks for heart disease, stroke, and cancer begin to go down.

Ready to quit? You don’t have to do it alone. Comment below to pledge your commitment and connect with others.

How can we save precious time—and lives—when it comes to stroke? Through training and research.

We’re of two of our nurses who partnered with local police officers in a pilot program that dramatically improved officers’ ability to recognize stroke signs using the BEFAST tool—boosting accuracy to 100%!

Because every minute counts, this training helps close the dangerous gap between a patient’s first encounter and life-saving medical care.

The results were so remarkable that the team expanded the work into a formal study and published it in a peer-reviewed medical journal.
