Empowering our neighbors with knowledge is lifesaving. 💙 That’s why, this fall, our clinical team brought important education to Prince George’s County residents.

Dr. Ziad Ghazzawi, internal medicine specialist, presented at the District V Coffee Club in Clinton, MD, during . He explained this life-threatening condition—covering risk factors, key symptoms, and the importance of urgent treatment.

Each year, nearly 1 million patients worldwide experience hospital falls—incidents that can lead to longer stays and increased risk of injury.

September is Fall Prevention Awareness Month, a time to highlight education and safety practices that protect patients from falls.

At MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, our nurses are dedicated to preventing falls and keeping patients safe. They use tools like the MORSE Fall Risk Assessment and the Bedside Mobility Assessment Tool, while also educating patients and families on safety.

To raise awareness, our nursing team also participated in “Wear Yellow Day” this September to show their commitment to fall prevention. 💛
