"My heart is literally breaking into a million pieces as I sit here cradling the lifeless, tiny body of my best friend. Parker was the child that I'll never be able to have. He's been with me through two marriages, a divorce, life, death, sadness and sorrow, happiness and joy. His 13 years was cut short because he did something completely out of character for him and went to the road. I will never get that image out of my head even as perfect and peaceful as he looked when I found him. I know for a fact that he had many more years ahead of him and this should have never happened. I want to lay in that hole beside him and go to sleep with him.

There will never be anything to replace him and I will never try. If I don't respond, I'm sorry. I'm grieving. Hard. This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me and I don't know how long it will take me to recover from it.

Parker you will never know just how much I love you and how much joy you brought to my life. Mama loves you."

For all of our healthcare worker friends out there, you can go on the Crocs website and get on a list at 12:00 PM Mon-Fri for a free pair of classic Crocs. All you have to do is just go to the website and basically sit and wait "in line" until it's your turn and then you have 10 minutes to fill out and submit the form and they will ship you a pair for free! If you don't make the list that day, just try again the next. I think it is also good for first responders too.

We will be closed all next week (March 30th - April 5th). We will reopen Monday April 6th at 8 am. We will continue seeing patients in the parking lot unless something drastic happens. Everyone stay safe and see you next month!

Until further notice, no patients will be allowed inside the building. Dr. Smith will be treating all patients in their cars. We ask that all sick patients (fever/cough/SOB/etc.) stay in the front of the parking lot and call when you arrive and someone will deliver your paperwork to you. Patients that are well and/or just needing refills, please drive around to the back of the building and call and someone will bring paperwork to you. The number to call is 910-596-0093.

Also, with the hectic situation and Dr. Smith solely seeing patients, our cut-off limit is 25 patients per day.

We apologize for the inconvenience and pray that everyone stays safe in the coming weeks!

SAMPSON COUNTY SEES FIRST PRESUMPTIVE POSITIVE CASE OF COVID-19

The Sampson County Health Department has reported its first presumptive positive case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Sampson County. The test will be submitted to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) lab for confirmation. The person is doing well and is isolating at home. The County will treat presumptive cases as positive and follow CDC guidelines to protect public health and limit the spread of infection, while awaiting confirmation of results from the CDC.

The presumptive positive patient had traveled internationally. The Health Department will work to identify close contacts, which the CDC defines as being within approximately 6 feet of a person with a COVID-19 infection for a prolonged period of time of 10 minutes or longer. Based on information provided by the individual, County health officials will assess risks of exposure, determine which if any additional measures are needed such as temperature and symptom checks, quarantine and/or testing.
