It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Chief Executive Officer, Sue Veer. Sue faced her illness with courage, and her loss is profoundly felt by all of us at Carolina Health Centers and by the many communities she touched.
For almost 20 years, Sue’s visionary leadership guided Carolina Health Centers, Inc. with integrity, compassion, and unwavering dedication to our mission. Under her direction, CHC expanded its reach, deepened partnerships, and strengthened its ability to provide high-quality, accessible health care for all.
Beyond her work locally, Sue was a respected national leader in community health. She served with distinction on committees and advisory groups with the National Association of Community Health Centers, where her expertise in health policy, finance, and governance helped shape the future of community health centers across the country. She was a trusted voice in Washington, advocating for policies that strengthened health centers and ensured care for vulnerable populations. Sue’s colleagues nationwide looked to her as a mentor, a thought leader, and an unwavering advocate for the mission of community health.
Sue’s legacy is one of service, innovation, and humanity. She cared deeply for her colleagues, our patients, and our partners, and she inspired all of us to aim higher in pursuit of excellence. While her passing leaves a great void, her vision will continue to shape the future of Carolina Health Centers—and the broader health center movement—for years to come.
We are grateful for to have had the opportunity to experience her leadership, and we invite you to join us in honoring Sue’s extraordinary legacy.
