Clinton Service Unit (CSU) Public Health Update
Thank you for sharing this important information regarding yesterday's anhydrous ammonia release. The Clinton Service Unit remains committed to supporting all patients and community members who may experience symptoms or have concerns following this event.
Our clinical teams are following guidance from Poison Control, local emergency management, and established federal response procedures to ensure safe, consistent care. While emergency crews have confirmed that air quality levels are safe once the area is cleared, we understand that some individuals may still experience irritation, coughing, sore throat, or other mild symptoms.
If you were affected:
Anyone experiencing burning eyes, persistent coughing, difficulty breathing, or symptoms that worsen should seek immediate medical attention.
CSU can evaluate non-emergent symptoms such as mild throat irritation, dry cough, or headaches at any of our facilities in Clinton, El Reno, and Watonga.
Poison Control is also available 24/7 at 1-800-222-1222 for guidance related to exposure.
For those returning home:
Ventilate your home when officials declare it safe to re-enter.
Wash un/sealed containers before use; discard any open or suspicious-smelling food items.
Wash exposed clothing separately and replace HVAC filters if your system was running at the time of the incident.
Hard surfaces can be cleaned with soap and water. Items directly wetted by liquid ammonia may need professional cleaning or disposal.
We will continue working closely with local partners to ensure the safety and well-being of our community. If you have questions about symptoms or need follow-up care, please reach out to the Clinton Service Unit for assistance.
Stay safe, and please continue to monitor official emergency management updates.
