Have you ever tried to make a change and just felt stuck? Like you are doing everything right to feel better, but you still feel the same way? It might be your nervous system.
I remember a time when I was trying desperately to get rid of anxiety, to be a happier mom, to stop carrying the heavy stress around that was physically painful and achey. I enrolled in a bunch of self development programs and started putting positive affirmations all over my walls and saying thrm out loud religiously. I was reading all the inspiring self help books. But no matter how hard I worked, whenever I read those I Am statements, something in my body would shout ‘No, you’re not!’ It was so frustrating. It even seemed like the more I fought for it the stronger that voice and feeling replied.
My body didn’t believe it. My body was stuck in fight or flight mode. My nervous system was calling the shots, and none of those lovely messages were reaching it, so it was keeping my body and mind in survival mode. And it was heavy.
When I finally experienced a harmonic light session, I understood what it feels like to get into a meditative (parasympathetic) state where my nervous system could lay down its weapons, and just rest, receive, and heal - it was like a dark and heavy cloud had lifted. My nervous system had finally come home to itself, and the racing thoughts stopped. I was present in my body, and my mind was quiet. The more I spent time in that place, the more at home I felt there.
And then I could actually say and believe those affirmations, deep down to my cells.
If you are in this space of fighting for your peace, and despite your best efforts its not working, please know that it’s not a failing in you. Your nervous system just needs to rest. It needs to know it is safe, you are safe, you can heal now. When it can feel that sense of Home that the light brings, and when the frequency of safety is resonating in your cells, you will be amazed at how quickly change and healing can occur. 💕🔆💖
