Rising sign Cancer ruled by the Moon, our little water nymphs are here. These sweet souls arrived on 7/11. These girls are babies number four and five for me, yet nothing could have prepared me for the joy, grief, messiness, and beauty that formed the fabric of their arrival. Nor for the kindness of the many women who have helped and continue to help nourish these girls when a complicated birth made nursing them more difficult.

The fourth trimester is a weepy and vulnerable time with waves of emotion capable of toppling the unsuspecting mother when she’s not looking. It’s a time to be held, heard, and loved. Her babies were born and are now Earthside. Her own She spirit has been born as well. It’s a time for sisterhood, mythic medicine, and coming together in circle to hold and be held.

Our babies are here and I’m still sharing pregnancy images. Truth be told, I thought I would still be carrying these two sweet souls at this point, but they had other plans. We’ve been spending our days popping in and out of the NICU as we attempt to divide our attention between the girls and Remy. It isn’t ideal, but it’s working, and they’re growing and such beautiful little loves. Just biding our time until we can all be reunited again 🧡

33 weeks yesterday and getting ready to hold these girls Earthside in a mere two weeks 🧡 While the birth will look nothing like what I hoped for, I’ve been told it will be magical in its own right and I’m hanging onto that sentiment very tightly. These girls are part of my path.

Now for a serious question… who read Women Who Run with the Wolves to their baby girls at bedtime? Asking for a friend of course 😂

32 weeks along with these sweet girls tomorrow and while I’m celebrating getting this far, I can’t help but think about the world I’m bringing them into. A world where others don’t value them after they are born, where they aren’t worth protecting after their first breath Earthside, and where their bodily autonomy isn’t theirs at all. A world where they are deemed less than a piece of metal, and most certainly less than the other s*x.

So while I’m celebrating their little lives, I’m most definitely grieving for the hardships they are going to encounter, too. Hardships that their grandmother didn’t have to. And while I will show them they are valuable and worthy and autonomous, that they breathe fire and are strong; society will always be there to say something different.

Beltane Blessings to All!

“Between the twilight of spring and summer
The hunter has come for the may queen
In fields of gold and beds of flower.”

He plows her land, so fertile and green
