This Sickness Is Not Unto Death - Norman Tanner Healed from Cancer This page is to share the miraculous healing of Norman Tanner from stage IV metastatic melanoma.

Once we had the diagnosis and the treatment plan we had to determine what came first.

Urologist said bladder surgery, radiation oncologist said laser radiation therapy 3x a week for 6 weeks, oncologist said immunotherapy.

It was overwhelming to say the least. We asked the Lord to direct our steps, we were lost in a thick forest of medical jargon that we did not understand.

Direct our steps He did. We went with immunotherapy first and that decision was the wisest we could have made.

However, We had been told that the immunotherapy could not cross the blood barrier to the brain and that it had not been an approved treatment for the bladder.

All I can tell you is that after the first 2 treatments scans showed that the lesions in those areas were gone. Gone! Not decreased, but G.O.N.E.

To God be the glory! Had we chosen any other order of treatments there were a slew of complications that could have happened but the Lord led and those surgeries/ therapies weren't even necessary.

That combination of Opdivo/Yervoy was extremely difficult on Norman though. He ended up in the hospital for a week, one of the hardest weeks in our lives.

Details to come.

When our general practioner sent the scans to an oncologist in Oak Ridge & referred Norman for an appointment stat... absolutley nothing happened, no phone call, no appointment, for over a week.

Can we talk about the misery in the waiting for a minute? The not knowing. The no plan of action, no official diagnosis, just, 'it looks like cancer, it's bad, it's several places' and then nothing.

You might think a week is nothing, but a week with that kind of bomb in your lap is an eternity.

Come to find out, the Oak Ridge office lost the scans. They ended up calling several weeks later but by then our GP had sent us to Tennova.

In hindsight we could see what the Lord was doing. We ended up where we were supposed to end up.

A biopsy was done and we finally had the official diagnosis.

The oncologist said stage IV metastatic melanoma and there is no stage V.

The crazy mumbo jumbo below is a wordy way of telling us that Norman had 3 2mm tumors in his brain.

Hence the blinding headaches.

Now some might think this was the knockout blow, and we were stunned to say the least. Still realing from the previous results we were trying desperately to find our footing. We drove all the way home in complete silence.

My husband will tell you that it was on that ride home that the Lord whispered, this sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God that the Son of God would be glorified thereby. John 11:4

And that was our stability. We held onto that promise like you would hold onto your baby in a tornado.

Now, we had the promise, but that didn't make the journey an easy one. There was much suffering during the battle so we relate to the suffering you may be experiencing now.

Contending for the faith is just that; contending, and it's not always pretty.

It seems so easy to tell the tale now, after the fact, but the truth of the matter is that Norman was sick, deathly sick.

I said to him every night, 'Babe, I don't know how, but tomorrow is going to be better than today.'

Sometimes that was true, sometimes it wasn't but I can promise you, that God is good in either case.

Stay tuned for so much more of the journey.

Once we received those first CT scan results and the general practioner told us it looked like cancer, she sent Norman immediately for more scans of the lower abdomen.

We were on autopilot at that point, going where we were sent, playing hurry up and wait to hear the results.

After the lower abdomen scan we were told not to leave the facility until we they were read and we received a call. I assume in case more needed to be done.

So we sat... it was nerve racking, my mind was all over the place, I can only imagine the same for Norman.

At a time like that you don't want to think about money.. but you have to think about money. I knew Norman would likely not be able to work, I knew treatments were expensive, and I knew the bills would still need to be paid.

The Lord interrupted those thoughts with a single sentence:

Money is not going to be a problem.

My thoughts were exactly right, Norman could not work, treatment was expensive, and the bills did have to be paid.

But, true to His word, as always, money somehow was not a problem.

I received 2 unexpected raises that year, short term disability was more than we expected, amazingly, supernaturally, we were able to stay afloat.

We did finally get the call that day, and the news was there were tumors also in his lymph nodes and bladder.

We were just realizing exactly how bad this whole thing was.

The results below were breathtaking but there was more bad news to come.

In October 2016 Norman had been under the weather for a few days. He kept working because that's just who he is, but he was having massive headaches, could eat little or nothing, and was generally exhausted.

He came home one night & showed me a small angry looking bruise under his arm, he's work was really physical so we both just assumed he'd gotten it climbing on machinery.

But.. the next morning that small angry bruise was the size of a hand, and if it looked angry before, now it looked furious.

Thus began the trips to the doctor & battery of tests. First order of business was lab work to rule out infection.

It wasn't infection.

From there he was sent straight for scans. There are a lot of details in between but that was the day, October 6, 2016 is when the doctor told him it looked like cancer. See the initial CT scan results below.

It was the train we did not see coming. Everything that had been a priority up to that point was no longer a priority.

What we didn't know then was this was the beginning of a journey, and the Lord would hold our hands every step of the way.

And it's not because of who Norman is, or who I am. It's because of who He is.

If you're sick, and you're whole world is turning upside down. Let me tell you about my God who heals, who will be with you at every appointment and give you wisdom beyond even the doctors.

The Lord gave us many scriptures throughout the battle.

That day as I prayed He gave me Philippians 2:27

For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

Hello all.

I created this page because I find myself constantly sharing Norman's testimony of miraculous healing from Stage IV metastatic melanoma.

If you're close to us, you probably have it nearly memorized, but I can just never be quiet about what the Lord has done.

So, please share with anybody you know whose dealing with sickness; cancer or otherwise. God still heals today and my husband is living proof.

In the coming days I'll add more details, I'll upload medical reports and of course, we'll be sharing about the wonderful mercies of our Lord Jesus.

They overcame by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto death. Revelations 12:11
