DCBHS extends its deepest condolences to the family, loved ones, and all those affected by the tragic loss of two children in the recent house fire in our community. There are no words sufficient to ease the pain caused by such a heartbreaking event, and our hearts grieve alongside everyone who is mourning this unimaginable loss.
The death of a child shakes a community to its core. Grief can surface in many ways—through sadness, anger, confusion, or quiet withdrawal—and each person experiences it differently. In moments like these, it is important to remember that no one has to carry this burden alone, and that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
DCBHS is making staff available to support both children and adults who may be struggling in the aftermath of this tragedy. Our trained professionals are prepared to provide grief counseling, emotional support, and guidance to individuals, families, and groups affected by this loss. Whether someone needs immediate support or simply a safe place to talk, we are here.
We encourage anyone in the community who is experiencing distress, concern for a loved one, or difficulty coping to reach out to our agency. Early support can make a meaningful difference, and we are committed to walking alongside our community during this painful time.
As we mourn together, we also honor the lives lost and the love that surrounds them. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family, first responders, and all who have been touched by this tragedy.
Respectfully,
Kevin Mullins
