A few things for Food for Thought:
Don't Diet! Instead, fuel your body. What does this mean to you? Part of our human experience includes our ability to use our frontal brain to make forward (goal-oriented) decisions. However, we don't do this on autopilot or when we are eating based on our mood ("What do I feel like eating today?"). When we really think about what we eat and make informed decisions (food that gives us energy, motivation, focus), we can fuel ourselves for optimal well-being and happiness.
Don't Cheat! Eat smart, use proper portion sizes, and have those super sugary, tasty, and high carb load meals be an occasional thing, not a staple in your fueling plan. When we listen to our body, notice our energy, recognize how we feel AFTER we eat, we can tune in with better awareness. No one likes IBS, pain, headaches, inflamed joints and gut, and our food choices can change this! Learn to eat to 80-85% fullness (this takes practice and slowing down). Veggies give us gut motility and a healthier balance of vitamins and minerals that help brain function and mood balance.
Don't Binge Drink! When you do, you switch your fueling system into a mode that processes alcohol first, food second, and that leads to more fat storage. Alcohol is not your friend and moderation (not going to point of feeling tipsy/buzzed), will also help with weight loss. Better weight for your frame also helps your heart, brain size (!!!), and ability to be more mobile.
Knowing better doesn't mean doing better either. This takes practice and support. What do you need to create a better balance for yourself?
