✅ Before You Exercise
1. Check the Heat Index: Combine temperature + humidity. If it’s dangerously high (e.g., 90°F/32°C+ with high humidity), consider indoor options.
2. Hydrate Early: Start drinking water 1–2 hours before your workout. Add electrolytes if you’ll be sweating heavily.
3. Wear the Right Gear: Lightweight, loose, light-colored clothing; moisture-wicking fabrics help sweat evaporate.
4. Use Sunscreen: SPF 30+ to protect skin from sunburn, which can impair your body’s cooling ability.



🏃 During Your Workout
1. Time It Right: Exercise early (before 10 a.m.) or late (after 6 p.m.) when it’s cooler.
2. Lower Your Intensity: Reduce pace and duration. Heat stress can sneak up on you.
3. Take Frequent Breaks: Rest in the shade or indoors every 15–20 minutes.
4. Drink Often: Small sips every 10–15 minutes. Don’t wait to feel thirsty.
5. Know the Signs of Heat Illness:
• Heat exhaustion: dizziness, headache, nausea, heavy sweating, weakness
• Heat stroke: confusion, no sweating, red/hot skin, fainting — call emergency services immediately



🧊 Cool Down Properly
1. Get Out of the Heat: Cool area or air-conditioned space.
2. Rehydrate with Electrolytes: Water plus sodium/potassium/magnesium helps recovery.
3. Use Cool Water: Wet towels, a cold shower, or a mist spray bottle.
