Last week at BNI Wood City in Cloquet, we had the pleasure of hearing from member Lee Harris during our Visitor Day and let’s just say… he set the bar high showing up with bacon wrapped chicken legs that had everyone talking.

But beyond the food, Lee shared something even more impactful. He walked us through the journey he and his wife Julie took building Holy Smokes, what started as an idea and turned into a business rooted in hard work, faith, and a whole lot of passion for great BBQ.

It was one of those presentations that reminds you why BNI works. You get to know the story behind the business, not just what someone does, but why they do it.

Last week at BNI Wood City we heard from Dr. Emily Conley of Wood City Dental, who shared more about her practice and the services they offer. Their team is currently accepting new patients and enjoys helping individuals and families stay on top of their dental health.

Her office manager, Kathy Jones, is an active BNI member and a wonderful connection point for anyone looking for a trusted local dental office.

Last week at BNI Wood City, Melissa Thompson of Globe Life Family Heritage Division presented on
how supplemental coverage can help protect families and business owners when unexpected injuries or illnesses happen, filling the gaps that traditional health insurance often leaves behind. What a reminder of what Wood City BNI is truly about. It’s more than referrals and business cards, it’s community.

At a recent meeting, REACH Program Director Dakota Koski shared that there were 10 local Reach youth still in need of Christmas sponsors. Within moments, members immediately stepped up, volunteering to sponsor a youth, and in less than a minute every single child was covered.

That’s the heart of this group. Business professionals coming together to make a real impact, especially during the Christmas season. Our local chapter is where generosity, compassion, and community come together.
