June 6, 2015 was 10 years ago. Moira, thanks for making this past decade the best one that I could've dreamed of.

You've been with me for the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Five graduations, our first home, four human babies (not our own), two dogs, four different moves, a global pandemic, a natural disaster--- and also the hardest of goodbyes--- you've been there for all of it. You've helped me make my best decisions and didn't stop me from making my worst. We've enjoyed sunsets in Tuscany, the whitest of Caribbean sands, Gator national championships, and the Davidson County Jail-- together

Who knows what the next 10 years hold, but I can approach it with contentment and excitement knowing that I'll spend it with you.

This is a bicruciate-retaining knee replacement. It allows for the retention of the ACL and PCL, which are ligaments typically removed during traditional knee replacements.

While this technology is not new, surgeons previously shied away from it due to difficulty with proper ex*****on. The advent of robotic knee replacement allows for very precise bone preparation, which can open the door for wider adoption and success of this technique.

The last image shows the robotic plan for a bicruciate-retaining case. The Cori robot allows for submillimeter precision in planning and ex*****on.

This technology addresses one of the main complaints of knee-replacement patients - the mechanical feel of the implant. Preserving the ACL and PCL, especially combined with the quadricep-sparing subvastus approach, should allow for a more "natural" feel and function of knee replacments.

I'm excited to see how these implants perform as they become a more prominent portion of my practice.

Bicruciate-retaining knee replacement is not suitable for all patients. Appropriate alignment, intact ligament function, and preserved range of motion are necessary prerequisites. Traditional knee replacement implants are still an excellent option.
