Just what is a final expense policy?

So often I hear people say that they have no reason to preplan their burial or cremation because they have a final expense life insurance policy. In the majority of cases, these people never put into consideration that burial and cremation costs will increase over time. This results in their loved one's having to come up with the shortfall.
