Michael P. Roane was born on January 29, 1949, in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Lee Roane. He passed away peacefully at his residence on August 3, 2025.
Michael was a graduate of Boston English High School and furthered his education at West Chester University, concentrating in Political Science and Public Administration. He was employed by the United States Postal Service, where he proudly served until his retirement.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Michael was also a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Pastown in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, where he served faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher.
Affectionately nicknamed “The Governor,” Michael was an active voice in politics and a passionate history buff. He enjoyed listening to jazz music, dining out for special occasions, vacationing at Martha’s Vineyard, and visiting museums and parks with his beloved granddaughter, Hazel, who was the pride and joy of his life. His favorite color was blue, and he loved the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and trips to the beach—especially Rehoboth Beach.
Michael was the widower of Edith Brown Roane. He is survived by his son, Marcel D. Roane of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Barbara Johnson (Henry) of and Beverly Smith all of Boston, Massachusetts; and his granddaughter, Hazel A. Roane of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey K. Roane.
A Public viewing will begin at 8:00 Am with Funeral Services commencing at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2025,. at the First Baptist Church of Pastown, 117 Barber Avenue, Coatesville, Pennsylvania, with the Reverend Dr. Michael Clayton Harris officiating and will be Livestreamed on the page of the Emmett Golden Hunt Memorial Chapel. Interment will take place alongside his wife in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
