“An incredible partner and mentor and an incredible asset to our hospital, our department, and our community” is how pharmacist Christopher Manly described Dave DeSando who has been a pharmacist at the hospital for 20 years and still works here per diem. Dave also worked here earlier in his career for 10 additional years and is a trainer in the community.

Carol Spaulding serves as a human resource business partner and has worked in human resources for the past 25 years at the hospital. She is the lead organizer of the annual employee recognition event and prefers not being in the limelight. Susan Oakes-Ferrucci, VP of Operations, southern region, thanked Carol for all she does every day for the hospital and for her professionalism in her role.

Kathleen Moore has been a registered nurse at the hospital for 30 years and works full-time in Ambulatory Care. “What I truly cherish about Kathy is her calm demeanor. She keeps us all grounded. She is an expert in orthopedics and also knows a lot about all of the subspecialties. Kathy is a fabulous team member known for great professionalism and her smile,” said Cindy Palmer.

Yesterday we honored 27 employees for their years of service. Nancy Jones, seen here with Carol Spaulding, has been a registered nurse at the hospital for 35 years! Cindy Palmer said: “Nancy is a key member of the perioperative team who is a great partner who reviews patients’ charts in detail and a great nurse who keeps our patients safe. What has always impressed me about Nancy is her memory for patient details."

Students from Ryder Elementary shared some love with patients at Cobleskill Regional Hospital for Valentine’s Day. Because of health-and-safety measures in place during the pandemic, visitors have been restricted. to Ryder students and their teachers, our patients have received adorable, hand-made Valentine’s Day cards with "Get Well Soon" wishes.

Thank you to the children at Radez Elementary School who made more than 75 adorable Valentine’s cards for our healthcare workers. They were delivered in a colorfully decorated box containing some additional gifts reminding the staff “Don’t forget to care of yourself too.”

A bell patients ring after their last chemotherapy treatment donated by Frederick and Gigi Freund, breast cancer survivor, to Cobleskill Regional Hospital.

Georgette Freund and her husband donated a bell so that other cancer patients who finish their rounds of chemotherapy at our hospital can celebrate the end of their treatments by sounding the bell.

"My hats off to the entire healthcare team - all the doctors, nurses, certified nursing assistants, housekeepers, dietary staff and everyone in between. You were absolutely wonderful," Gigi said.

Our Pastoral Care team donated enough candy and jokes to brighten the holidays for all 225 part-time, full-time and per diem employees. Since our volunteers have not been able to visit patients in person since March due to COVID-19 precautions, they have been keeping patients and employees in their prayers.
