I was really excited to join Janine in celebrating her Art show at Carver High School where she is graduating this month.
Janine is one of my favorite success stories as a patient.
She used to be very low mood and suicidal during covid when her grandmother who raised her for the first few years of her life, passed away in China. Janine struggled with ADHD and Anxiety most of her growing years. Very talented in art but not doing well in regular school we were able to get her tested through Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital and then get into Carver High School for her exceptional talent in Art. She fit right into this school for art. Her parents especially mom has been instrumental in taking her through all the educational appointments. Mom is really supportive of her talent and introduced her to art as a little kid.
Her therapist who helped her, Mary was amazing in moulding her to be what she is today. I remember Mary seeing her even the weekends and Sunday evenings to help her out. Janine will be going to Maryland Institute College of Art- MICA in Baltimore. I am so proud of Janine and wish her the best in all her future endeavors 👏🩷

Yo estuve muy emocionada de poder asistir con Janine en la celebración de su exposición de arte en Carver High School, donde se gradúa este mes. Janine es una de mis historias favoritas de éxito como paciente. Ella solía tener bajo ánimo y pensamientos suicidas durante covid. Cuando su abuela que la crió durante los primeros años de su vida, falleció en China. Janine luchó con TDAH y Ansiedad la mayor parte de su vida de crecimiento. Muy talentosa en el arte, pero no le iba bien en la escuela. Nosotros fuimos capases de facilitar que ella pudiera obtener su prueba através del Hospital Pediátrico Mount Washington y luego entrar en Carver High School por su talento excepcional en el arte. Encajó perfectamente en esta escuela de arte. Sus padres, especialmente mamá, han sido fundamentales para llevarla a todas las citas educativas. Mamá es realmente un gran apoyo de su talento y la introdujo en el arte desde pequeña. La terapeuta que la ayudó, Mary, fue increíble en moldearla para ser lo que es hoy. Recuerdo que Mary la veía incluso los fines de semana y los domingos por la tarde para ayudarla. Janine estudiará en Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) de Baltimore. Estoy muy orgullosa de Janine y le deseo lo mejor en todos sus proyectos futuros.👏🩷

Encourage families to try hands-on, eco-friendly activities that get everyone outdoors, such as:
🌳 Visiting a local nature preserve or wildlife center
🗑️ Joining a park or beach cleanup
🌼 Planting flowers in a community garden
🍓 Strolling through a neighborhood farmer’s market

These simple moments connect children to their environment, promote sensory and motor development, and foster a sense of empathy and purpose — all while protecting the planet and our moods. 🌞

It's National Infant Immunization Week! Vaccines can be stressful for both babies *and* parents. As healthcare providers, we play a key role not just in administering vaccines, but in *supporting* them through the process. The next time you administer a vaccine, try:
1) Discussing the importance of acknowledging and labeling a baby’s emotions. Naming a child’s emotions will help them to understand their feelings as they grow: “I know this hurts, but your mom is right here, and these shots will make you stronger and healthier.”
2) Modeling soothing strategies, like offering a pacifier, shushing, talking, or singing.
3) Praising caregivers for holding their child or soothing them through the process
