When we do gua sha to clear heat from the lungs, the skin often tells the story. Those red or purple marks aren’t bruises—they’re signs the body is releasing what’s been stuck.

Lung heat can show up as coughing, chest congestion, yellow or sticky phlegm, a sore throat, or feeling hot in the chest. Sometimes even skin breakouts along the upper back or chest are part of the picture.

After gua sha, that heat has a way out. The marks fade within a few days, but the relief—lighter breathing, less coughing, clearer energy—often comes much sooner.
