Bee Happy Raw Wildflower Honey
2021 review and beyond !
What started out as a slow year ended up being a great comeback fourth quarter win , win!
In saying that we always give God the glory for the privilege to keep our honeybees!
Compared to most beekeepers, Terry, Edward and myself collectively could probably only fill a thimble half full of knowledge about being great beekeepers, yet by Gods grace and our ever growing appetite to be better beekeepers we grow in confidence and child like amazement as we observe and participate in the lives of our 15 colonies.
This being our 5th season of keeping bees,we had projected it at the beginning of the season as our first profitable season were we actually could glean money for personal usages. However it was not meant to be, yet we praise God that it was our second best harvest total falling only 5 pounds short of our 2020 all time best of 650 pounds of liquid gold from our girls! (645 lbs.)
This years late season gains did allow
us to repair my aging 1996 Ford Ranger ( twice) plus add a freezer to flash freeze frames with honey comb to kill off any disease or insects.
We also were once again able to reinvest in new equipment such as new hive boxes and wood to build other needed equipment so that we can expand our operations in 2022. ; (we now build 85 percent of our equipment)
We are also are very excited that Edward our oldest son has joined forces with us to learn all the ins and outs of beekeeping and brings a fresh approach to promoting our business with Tik Tok, Instagram and Facebook videos that he posts . Eventually, lord willing , Edward will at some point down the road take full control of what we hope by then will be a thriving cottage industry.
Edward has been of great value to me in the field as well , at 66 those honey laden boxes get pretty heavy especially wearing a full bee suit. Thankfully Edward is not allergic to the stings like I am so he can choose to wear a suit or not , all depending on our bees temperament on the days we visit their homes.
Terry still holds a job at Pinch A Penny Pools so her hive time is limited, yet her love of beekeeping has not waned and her desire to do beekeeping fulltime grows equally with our desires to bring it to the next level.
In 2022 we hope to increase our colonies to 30 ( Edward’s desire is 400!) by splitting strong existing colonies , some as many as two times, this will result in Edward keeping close watch over at least half of those colonies, discerning their status and health and what to do when, and when to just let our bees do their own thing, sometimes we as beekeepers interfere a bit too much in their daily routines.
( overbearing parents?) haha!
We also will be exploring new venues to sell our honey, our wax clothe bowl covers, wax, honey, essential oil lip balms and Edward’s beeswax beard and mustache balms.
We will also be experimenting with producing comb honey in various ways.
So all in all 2021 in the long run helped us gain key insights on how to move forward and how to be the best possible beekeepers while honoring our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
We will ever be thankful to Peter Andres Terrys brother who introduced us to beekeeping over 5 years ago, Peter still keeps bees up in the outskirts of Saskatoon , Canada, and is a very successful keeper even despite the harsh cold winters.
We also would be amiss not to thank our daughter Deanna for her God given talent and creativity with her camera work,( featured in The Senior Life layout) and her willingness to bring us oldschoolers up to date in what looks good for labels, for our products, and to give us a fresh look. Also hoping , praying one day she might join our forces at beekeeping and management!
Also here at home , we would never have been able to grow into a cottage industry if it were not for all the great mentoring we have received from Clifton Best of Best Honey and president and founder of Brevard Backyard Beekeepers. We glean a wealth of info on the first Thursday of every month at 6:15 p.m. at The Agricultural extension center on Lake Ave. in Cocoa Fl. All are welcome, membership is not required.
Clifton has also visited our hives on occasions when we were clueless to different scenarios we didn’t understand, this despite his heavy schedule of his professional bee removal business and maintaining his every growing colonies.
We hope this catches you up on what we are up to and our vision for the year to come and the praise report of our successful 2021 season!
From Terry, Edward , and myself, we pray you will have a very blessed 2022

Wow! What a year it’s been for Ed and I here at Bee Happy Raw Wildflower Honey. We first and foremost give thanks to our Heavenly Father for granting us the opportunity to wear many different hats: beekeepers, students of beekeeping, retailers at a local farmers market and the creativity to create new by-products from our beeswax and honey. We are even grateful for the many mistakes and miscalculations we have produced this season. We most definitely learn from our mistakes!
We have had the added blessing of selling our honey, beeswax clothe bowl covers and lip balms (beeswax, cocoa butter, honey and essential oil) at Rockledge Gardens Farmer’s Market After Hours. We can enthusiastically report to you that we have reached a point where we have now ordered new equipment for the spring and summer of 2021!
Our hope is to expand our bee yards to new locations and to increase our hives up to 25. Currently we are at 11.
We are in the process of developing beard balms and mustache waxes as part of our product line. We also may introduce a very healthy, tasty, energy drink in the spring.
Ed will be kept busy doing maintenance on existing equipment and building some components rather than purchasing them saving us hundreds of dollars in short order.
Currently, we have just extracted our number one honey - Brazilian Pepperberry Honey. It is by far our best seller as it has such great medicinal value and tastes great! We will not have Wildflower Honey again until around the end of April.
Along with our one and two pound size bottles, we now offer a three pound size jug.
If you need honey call me at 321-501-9735 or try Ed at 321-652-3161. Please leave a message if we don’t pick up.
In December our prices will have a slight increase. The one pound bottles will be $9. The two pounders will be $18. and our new three pounder will be $27. This still keeps us a bit lower than many other local honey sellers.
Thank you for supporting our small local business and we hope to see you or hear from you soon!

Save the bees?.... Save the Beekeepers too!
If you are like us, you really enjoy the arrival of spring and summer with the hope of fresh produce, fruits and even nuts. For us it’s a true blessing that our nation has been blessed with a great agricultural landscape which we all can take advantage of.
Now try to imagine if one third of our vegetables, fruits and nuts were no longer available for our consumption. That would be horrific!
Well, our honeybees and every other beekeeper’s bees are under great stress from both nature’s destructive mites and from manmade pesticides which are used commercially and privately for crops and home gardening.
This, coupled with the high cost of maintaining healthy colonies, puts a burden on the beekeepers and their love of beekeeping.
Here’s an example: we are in our 4th year of active beekeeping and currently maintain a dozen hives. Yes, small potatoes, but you will see why.
With 11 colonies our bees produced 680 pounds , or 57 gallons of honey for the whole year. Every cent from honey sales was and continues to help us pay for equipment, organic treatments and future growth. This did not occur the first two seasons and thankfully now through occasional sales we are at least covering maintenance of this fledgling cottage industry..... but it’s not enough!
Our goal with your help is to turn this cottage industry into a sustainable business that will eventually support us, plus being able to multiply our colony numbers, and providing our customers with certifiably the best local, pure, raw honey .
Just recently Ed retired from his role as a shift manager for Pinch A Penny Pool pool supply store and now he is taking on the challenges of making this dream happen.
Our honey is superior to most local honeys because of the care we take to keep it raw, untainted, organic. Our honey is never heated and is only filtered once through a fine wire mesh filter so that it retains all its medicinal properties to guarantee great tasting honey - honey that has tremendous health benefits. Honey is a superior sweetener over sugar or any other type of sweetener plus it never goes bad!
We hope this gives you a little insight as to why it’s so important to support your local beekeepers and their bees and the challenges we face to provide you with a superior product plus keeping fresh fruits and produce on your plate!
Bottom line....Eat more Honey!🍯!🐝🐝
August update: For the second time this past week Ed has experienced anaphylactic symptoms after being stung above the right eyebrow. This occurred in our backyard while we weren’t even working with the bees!
It was touch and go and mostly prayer as to whether to call 911, however Ed was quick to take two Benadryls and after about 15 minutes the symptoms began to subside.
When Ed does our work in our 3 bee yards he wears full protection which is about 99%
Solid protection.
Ed has been praying about his future as a beekeeper and has decided to continue despite the risks.
It is a bit scary as Ed’s wife to think of what could happen, yet it is a dream we both would like to bring to its fullest as full time Beekeepers when I retire from the pool business office.
Please keep Ed in your prayers for safety, ( no stings) and that we both would continue to learn all we can about these incredible little creatures that God has blessed us with!
P.S.

Hey You’all
Hope you all are doing great despite all that’s going on in the world.
Thankfully our bees are not affected by COVID19 and they are doing just fine in their own little kingdoms.
Currently we have 11 active hives however 3 or 4 of them do not have Queens yet.
These are colonies that we split from stronger colonies about a month ago. With a little management from Ed and I we are waiting on them to produce new Queens on their own,... Lord willing!
We still have some great Brazilian Pepper berry honey available, remember Honey never goes bad and is very Beneficial for your immune system and has many other properties that will boast your overall health.... besides that our (girls) make the best tasting honey around.
Call me at +13215019735 or Ed at 3216523161 , one pounders are still just $8.00 dollars and our popular two pounder is $16.00 dollars, these prices are below most local sellers!
Hope to hear from you soon or see you around Cocoa!

Well, Ed and I hope you are finding things to do as families or if you are single during this season of uncertainties.
We have noticed that with schools closed and so many venues closed down for now many people are spending time together as families... and that is a very very good thing!
We wanted to share with you just a simple decadent delight that will take your mind off things for a little while.
The vanilla ice cream above believe it or not can still be found in the freezers at supermarkets.
Top ice cream with walnuts (our favorite) and drizzle a generous amount of Bee Happy Raw Wildflower Honey over the top.
Caution: must be our honey otherwise it will just be average instead of delectably delicious!
Hope you try this tasty treat!
Bee news—
Sunday Ed and I spent about 3 hours splitting 5 of our stronger hives . Splitting? What do you mean?
We lost 4 of our 9 hives over the (winter) due to weakened colonies that seem to have lost their queens for one reason or another leaving colonies to decline in numbers and loose battles to beetles and moths in the long run eventually dying off altogether.
Our remaining 5 hives came out of winter strong with high numbers.
This allowed us to relocate about 3-4 frames of bees into new hives from each of the healthy colonies. With the warmer weather upon us the bees will be very active in bringing in fresh nectar and the colonies should begin to grow quickly.
So currently we now have 11 colonies and hope to split many more hives this season.
Ed and I want you to know you are in our prayers daily and that we serve a perfect, sovereign, holy God and we are in the palm of his hands... no matter what!

Ed and I are excited about heading into our 4th season of beekeeping. Of course it’s a year round job here in Florida, but soon our bees will be very active even as early as this week when temperatures will soar into the mid 80s and plants will be popping buds and blossoms everywhere.
In the off season we have been busy building new honey frames and bolstering up our supplies of new hive boxes and maintenance items to help keep our bees happy workers!
Over the winter, HA! I mean the cooler months, we lost two colonies that were weakened possibly due to an outdated organic mite control pesticide.
Thankfully, our other seven colonies seem to be strong and even ready for us to split them into new colonies in another week or two.
We are also looking forward to adding to our sales homemade lip balms along with our popular beeswax food covers.
We still have a nice supply of our very popular Brazilian Pepperberry Honey which has such a wonderful flavor and highly touted medicinal properties that are useful during flu season.
Ed and I would like to thank you for supporting our fledgling business. Your support of local beekeepers is important. Please PM me if you want honey.
