South Florida Vascular Associates

South Florida Vascular Associates The doctors at South Florida Vascular Associates specialize in minimally invasive treatments performed using imaging guidance.

Interventional radiology is a rapidly growing area of medicine. The minimally invasive techniques used by interventional radiologists are an advance in medicine that often replaces open surgical procedures. They are generally easier for the patient because they involve no large incisions, less risk, less pain and shorter recovery times.

This month, we raise awareness about the warning signs, risk factors, and prevention of stroke. A key focus is how carotid artery disease contributes to stroke risk and how treatments like Carotid Artery Stenting (CAS) can prevent strokes.

South Florida Vascular Associates has been performing carotid artery stenting since 2001, and William Julien, MD has participated in several original carotid artery stent trials. For more information, call SFVA at 954-725-4141.

As a founding member of the Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society (OEIS), William Julien, MD from South Florida Vascular Associates presented discussions on prostate artery embolization (PAE) to physicians in the 12th Annual National Scientific Meeting held in Orlando, Florida.

PAE is a minimally invasive, image-guided procedure used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Ideal candidates include men with moderate-to-severe BPH symptoms who are seeking for an alternative treatment than traditional surgery. BPH is performed in the office with a faster recovery and no sexual side effects.

William Julien, MD performs a prostate artery embolization (PAE) procedure in the operating room (OR). The procedure is performed through a small incision, often in the groin or wrist, where a catheter is inserted and guided through the artery using imaging technologies like fluoroscopy. The goal is to correct the blocked artery to the prostate without the need for large surgical incisions, leading to shorter recovery times for patients. For more information on our PAE procedure, contact us at 954-725-4141.
