The Foundation for Independent Living is a private, not-for-profit, community-based program for adults with varying cognitive disabilities and developmental delays. Located in beautiful South Florida, this long-term residential living program is the ideal destination for young adults who are ready to navigate the world with their differences. Offering a unique and rewarding opportunity for adults to achieve their highest level of independence, FIL is truly the perfect transition for those seeking to thrive independently. Founded in 1985, FIL became a program which could enhance individual’s journey into the adult world; a place they could proudly call home.

The Foundation prides itself on being a program that walks through life with our residents. Jessica just celebrated 23 years with us, and while we are honored to support her, we are even more grateful for the gift of her presence. She brings so much to our community, and our goal is to make the next 23 years even better by simply being here for her, every step of the way, and celebrating the light she brings to our foundation.

🌸 Happy Easter from all of us at FIL!

Easter is more than egg hunts and spring flowers. It's one of the most significant days in the Christian faith. It's the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a moment that has given generations of people hope, renewed faith, and the reminder that even in our darkest seasons, there is light on the other side.

That message hits close to home for us here at FIL. Our residents face real challenges every day, and yet they show up with grace and a spirit that honestly humbles us. That kind of resilience is what Easter is all about.

To our residents and everyone who walks through these doors, thank you for being a living example of hope in action.
