International Womenâs Day often celebrates strong women.
But in clinical work, I see something more complex.
Many women who are labeled strong have simply become highly adapted to pressure.
They anticipate problems.
Manage relationships.
Carry emotional labor.
Maintain stability.
And they do it well.
But over time, the nervous system begins to show signs of strain:
⢠anxiety
⢠burnout
⢠irritability
⢠emotional shutdown
⢠chronic overthinking
Not because they are failing.
Because the system has been running in high-responsibility mode for too long.
One shift I work on with many women in treatment is this:
Competence does not require self-abandonment.
You can remain capable
without carrying everything alone.
