College life can be amazing! But it can also feel overwhelming. Between deadlines, exams, social pressure, and being away from home, college students have a lot on their plates!

Here are a few mental health tips to pass along to the college students in your life:

✔️Make sure to prioritize sleep! Your brain needs rest in order to function. Try to get 7 to 8 hours a night.

✔️Create a routine. Routines help reduce anxiety and increase productivity.

✔️Talk it out! If something is bothering you, find a friend, advisor, or counselor to chat with.

✔️Take mental breaks. Whether it's exercise, listening to music, or journaling, we all need breaks from heavy mental loads.

✔️Reach out for help. There are so many resources to help struggling college students. Whether it's a loving family member or the college counseling office, know you are not alone.

Mental health is as important as grades- college students need care too! 🩵

✏️It's that time again- back to school! While your kids might have had a relaxing and stress-free break, you might begin to notice some bigger emotions and behaviors showing up now that the first day of school is approaching.

☺️Kids can have so many feelings when a new school year begins- excitement, joy, eagerness to see old friends, curiosity, and anticipation. 🥺 But they also might suffer from worry, anxiety, sadness, and more. From fears about finding their classes to worries about who is in their classes, kids' feelings can be all over the place!

🌈It's important to reassure your children that all of their feelings are normal, and to give them opportunities to express their feelings. Whether they write in a journal, create artwork, listen to music, or take a walk, help them find coping skills to deal with all the new feelings coming up.

And if you need additional support, I am here to help! I have a few after school spots available and would be happy to help your child start the new school year with courage, strength, and confidence. 💪

😎Understanding our feelings is like learning a new language. When we teach our children to identify their feelings, we are not just teaching them words; we are teaching them how to navigate the world of emotions.

Recognizing a feeling is the first step to managing it. It's like spotting a cloud before it becomes a storm.

When our little ones can say, "I'm feeling angry," or "I'm feeling scared," they are taking control of their emotional world.

👍🏻And that's a powerful thing!

Because when we can manage our emotions, we can really handle life's ups and downs. We can express ourselves clearly, build stronger relationships, and make better decisions.

So let's keep teaching our children this beautiful language of feelings. 🌈

As a child therapist, I see the impact of coparenting every day in my young clients.

Kids often carry the weight of their parents’ separation—especially when there’s tension or miscommunication.

In therapy, I help children feel safe, heard, and supported. But I also work with parents to reduce conflict and build consistency between homes—because that’s what helps kids heal and thrive.

If your child is struggling through a separation or divorce, I’m here to help. Reach out for a consultation.

Happy Tuesday! Here's a good reminder about child behavior. It's not the behavior we should be focusing on, but what is going on underneath the behavior.

When we pause to look beyond the behaviour, we can see the feelings driving it.
Our children don’t need punishment for expressing distress — they need connection, understanding, and guidance.
