We love hearing from our patients!

Thank you to the amazing patient who left a kind review for Dr. Blaty and the Inland Northwest Spine team. Your words remind us why we do what we do every day — helping you move, heal, and live pain-free.

Full review: "I was feeling absolutely terrible, it couldn’t have been a worse day. Dr. Blaty was nothing short of exceptional. He wasn’t just professional; he was genuinely compassionate and human, which made all the difference in that moment. I’m incredibly grateful for the care he provided. I also want to acknowledge the kind and welcoming team at the front desk. They were warm, patient, and truly helped make a rough day a little easier." Joseph L

Your spine does so much more than help you stand tall, it literally supports you through every twist, turn, and lift life throws your way. At Inland Northwest Spine, we believe that taking care of your back this summer is one of the most important investments you can make in your long-term health. And your eating habits are often-overlooked.

Here are 3 spine-loving nutrients to work into your summer meals:

Calcium: Essential for building and maintaining strong bones, including the vertebrae that make up the spinal column. Good sources of calcium include dairy products (milk, yogurt, cheese), leafy green vegetables (kale, spinach), and some fish (salmon, sardines).

Vitamin D: Crucial for calcium absorption and bone health. Sunlight is the body's natural way to produce vitamin D, but it can also be found in fortified dairy products, eggs, and fatty fish like salmon and mackerel.

Magnesium: This mineral contributes to bone density, muscle relaxation, and nerve function, all vital for a healthy spine. Foods rich in magnesium include leafy greens, nuts (almonds, cashews), seeds, beans, and whole grains.

What to watch: Too much soda or alcohol can actually reduce your body’s ability to absorb these essential nutrients. So enjoy summer to the fullest, but balance is key!

And remember: good nutrition is only part of the equation. Regular movement, posture awareness can make all the difference.

Could Your Lower Back Pain Be Caused by Your Sacroiliac Joint?

If you're experiencing ongoing lower back pain, your sacroiliac (SI) joint may be to blame. Dr. Blaty, MD, and the expert team at Inland Northwest Spine offer minimally invasive sacroiliac fusion surgery using the iFuse Implant System® to help provide lasting relief.

Do you experience one or more of the following symptoms?

-Lower back pain
-Sensation in the lower extremities: pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness
-Pelvis or buttock pain
-Hip or groin pain
-Feeling of leg instability (buckling, giving way)
-Disturbed sleep patterns due to pain
-Difficulty sitting for long periods or needing to sit on one side
-Pain when transitioning from sitting to standing

If these symptoms sound familiar, you may be a candidate for sacroiliac fusion.

Back pain can be incredibly frustrating—and surprisingly, your shoes might be the hidden culprit. At Inland Northwest Spine, we know how small daily choices can have a big impact on your spinal health. One of the most overlooked? Footwear.

Your choice of shoes affects everything from posture to spinal alignment. Shoes without proper support can throw off your body’s biomechanics, leading to stress on your lower back, joint pain, and even long-term spinal issues.

Here’s what to keep in mind:

Supportive Sneakers: These shoes provide cushioning and arch support, maintaining healthy spine alignment.

High Heels: Stylish but risky—they shift your center of gravity and can distort your spine’s natural curve.

Flat Shoes & Sandals: Often lack arch support, leading to poor posture and potential back strain.

Boots: Can offer support, but stiff soles may restrict natural movement.

At Inland Northwest Spine, we stress proactive spinal care—including what you put on your feet. Let us help you evaluate your habits and make adjustments that promote lifelong spine health.

Whether you're playing for your company team, a rec league, or just for fun, softball is fast, fun—and full of injury risks if you're not careful.

After a winter of inactivity, jumping straight into summer games can lead to strains, sprains, or worse.

Common softball injuries:

TENDONITIS – Repetitive throws/swinging can inflame tendons. Use bracing, rest, and stretch. Severe cases may need medical care.
NECK & BACK PAIN – From dives or overuse. Warm up properly, and don’t ignore persistent pain.
KNEE INJURIES (ACL) – Quick stops and pivots strain the knees. Some need therapy, others surgery.
ROTATOR CUFF TEARS – Even underhand pitching can strain shoulders. Rehab or surgery may be needed.

Ease back into activity with light cardio and strength training. Always warm up before games—stretching and activation exercises help prevent back injuries.

Inland Northwest Spine is here to help—call (208)667-1376 to get back in the game.

Did you know that the right pillow can make a huge difference in your posture? Choosing a pillow that supports your neck’s natural curve helps keep your spine in a neutral position while you sleep—reducing strain on your neck and back muscles.

A well-aligned spine at night means less stiffness and discomfort in the morning, setting you up for better posture throughout the day! Your pillow should support your head and neck without forcing your spine into an awkward angle.

Inland Northwest Spine can help! Call us at (208)667-1376 to schedule an appointment and start improving your posture.
