Two very wonderful aides who saw patients in the nursing home where I worked as a CNA told me I would be a great asset to HONI and that I should apply. So I did—and boy, am I the lucky one!

Oh wow! Lots of changes have happened over the years within our organization, new staff, new positions, and new growth. I have to say I’ve worn many hats here.

I love that no matter what position you have in this agency, you are helping patients and their family members. I truly love what this nonprofit organization stands for, and that everyone, truly everyone, plays their own part in helping our mission.

I look at death differently now. I’ve seen it firsthand; it’s not about quantity, it’s about quality. We’ve seen some rare miracles, people who are admitted and ready to pass, and after a few months, they improve and come off hospice services. We do an amazing job, loving the families we have the privilege to care for as if they were our own.

What makes me proud is how much we have grown over the years, including having our very own Hospice House, the Schneidmiller House. It is the ONLY one in the state of Idaho!

My free time is all about family. I have eight children, some weren’t born to me, but they are still my children. My family has also blessed me with enough grandchildren to fill a football or basketball team, or even a small community! Grandbaby number 17 is on the way!

My favorite place to vacation is the wilderness. I’m a “glamper,” and I love being outdoors in the fresh air.
Congrats on 20 years, Becka! 🎉
