🌟 SPARK AWARD — Congratulations to Brittany! 🌟

Please join us in celebrating Brittany for being selected as a Kootenai Health Spark Award winner for her outstanding commitment to patient advocacy and safety!

Brittany recently demonstrated exceptional vigilance when she reviewed a patient order involving physical restraints. After carefully evaluating the situation and referencing policy, she recognized the order did not meet CMS standards. She immediately escalated her concerns, helping to uphold patient rights and ensure care remained both ethical and compliant.

Her courage to speak up and her attention to detail embody the very best of KootenaiHealth's values. Brittany's dedication not only made a direct impact on a patient's experience but also served as a powerful reminder of how one voice can protect dignity and make a difference.

Brittany, thank you for your integrity, advocacy, and the spark you bring to our team. We're so proud to honor you with this well-deserved recognition!

🌟 We're honored to announce that Megen has been recognized with a DAISY Award for her remarkable compassion, creativity, and commitment to going above and beyond for her patients. 🎉

While caring for a patient who experienced a medical event while working outdoors near one of our deep local lakes, Megen learned that he had lost an expensive tool in the water, one that was vital to his livelihood. The lake was far too deep to retrieve the item by conventional means.

But Megen isn't just a nurse, she's also SCUBA certified. On her own time, she went to the lake, dove to the bottom, and successfully recovered the tool for her patient. Thanks to her selfless act, he was spared the burden of replacing a costly piece of equipment during an already difficult time.

This is just one example of the many ways Megen serves her community. From volunteering in safety outreach programs to assisting homebound individuals with grocery shopping, she leads with compassion in all she does.

Megen's actions reflect what it means to truly connect with patients—not just addressing their medical needs, but seeing and supporting the whole person. Her care, empathy, and initiative are what make her an extraordinary nurse and an irreplaceable part of our team.

Please join us in congratulating Megen for being a true example of nursing excellence and heartfelt service. 💚

🌞 We are thrilled to announce that Kai Chaffin, a Histology Assistant in our Lab, has been nominated for the Sunshine Award! 🎉

Although Kai works behind the scenes with patient samples, his actions have a direct and meaningful impact on patients and their families.

Most recently, Kai was leaving work when he noticed an elderly couple pulling up to the ED entrance, in need of immediate help for a relative who appeared to be having a stroke. Without hesitation, Kai jumped into action, helping the patient safely into a wheelchair and ensuring they were quickly taken into the ED for care.

This isn't the first time Kai has stepped up. A few months ago, he helped a pregnant woman in distress who looked like she was about to pass out in the hallway. He made sure she had a wheelchair and got to her lab appointment safely, offering calm and support when it was needed most.

Kai consistently demonstrates the values of Compassion, Safety, and Engagement, showing that care doesn't stop at the bedside; it can happen anywhere, by anyone with a heart to help.

Please join us in celebrating Kai for his quick thinking, kindness, and the quiet but powerful ways he makes a difference at Kootenai Health. 💛
