What was done to Emily Pike is nothing short of horrific. The way this case was handled from the start was atrocious. Her case was not taken seriously because she was considered a "runaway". Her family was not properly informed of her disappearance, and when she was found, details that should NOT have been delivered to the media in the way that they were made it to the public without even the family being made aware.
To her family, if you all read this:
I know the words that we could write would never fix the pain of what you all are experiencing in this time of loss. The trauma and pain of something this horrific is beyond explanation or words. We are praying for some sort of light to come to you all and comfort you all in this time of such great darkness. Emily could never have deserved an ending like this. May the one who committed this crime against her and against your family be brought to justice, may they never know peace.
May we continue to fight for a world in which our precious children are safe from this.
