A reminder to everyone- please be kind to people, whether online or in person. Kindness goes a long way to connect people, and you never know what someone is going through or has gone through. Act in ways you admire and can be proud of.
Went walking on one of the trails on our property and decided to check on the huckleberry bushes in one the “groves” (yes there are a lot of them). Sure enough they’re ready to be harvested.
Of course I didn’t have anything to put them in so I’ll be going back out this evening but I did eat quite a few 💪😋. P.S. The only people I’ve shown them to is my herbal students and I’ve always let them freely eat.

I work with clients who really struggle with cleaning up their diets. Meal prep is too time consuming and can be confusing. So I encourage them to just prep ingredients. That way they can grab things quickly to create a meal. These are some things in my refrigerator. I’ll be adding quinoa and hard boiled eggs to this. Building a quinoa bowl or a tasty salad (both with protein) quickly and easily become attainable.

Went to bed last night with a sore throat and a little achiness - middle of the night my fever went up and I was hurting. I suffered through it, drank water and peed a lot.
Today my throat is feeling better, I’m just really tired.
I’ll drink some chamomile and mint tea, take some extra vitamin C and Zinc, lay outside to get sunshine and continue to rest.
If you support your body it will heal, if you interrupt your body’s efforts (like taking something to reduce fever) your illness will last longer.
Is it easy? Nope, but it’s worth it in the end!
Ain’t no one got time to be sick! 🤘

Huckleberry Mountain Botanicals School & Health Consultations
Welcome to Huckleberry Mountain Botanicals where I’m all about equipping people to live healthier and happier lives. I do this by providing herbal eduction and meeting on an individual basis to guide people through the maze of natural options.
My name is Monica “Joy” Mitzel and my passion is all things herbs, natural remedies, from-scratch cooking, nutrition, meandering through the forest, gardening, homesteading, teaching & speaking about holistic health. Basically helping you connect to nature in a way that resonates with you.
I provide several options to enhance your herbal connection and healing choices. You can choose to: immerse yourself in the full 8 month herbal program to learn how to improve your health and that of your family, or just focus on one body system at a time with an introduction to specific herbal therapeutics, or maybe you want to learn one new herb a month - how to identify, cultivate, its medicinal and edible uses, constituents and integrate into your life. There’s something for everyone!
It is very important to me that everyone I work with, whether a student or health client, learn to grow or wildcraft and prepare their own medicine. My goal is to help you make a natural connection and equip you with everything necessary to take charge of your own health. I always aim to work with each person long enough so they know how to navigate the natural health “waters” with confidence. (Of course, I’m always available for further appointments and training as needed.)
