Dr. Lorraine Bedwell from Manchester Metropolitan University is researching how factors like ethnicity, caring responsibilities, location, and financial circumstances create barriers to physical activity during menopause.

Approximately, 40% of women aged 40-60 aren’t meeting physical activity guidelines (Sport England, 2024).

Menopause Matters members have the lived experience this research needs, particularly those whose voices are often missing from mainstream health studies.

The study is looking to reach individuals aged 18–60 experiencing any stage of menopause, at any activity level, who would be willing to share their experiences through either an 8-week online diary (15 minutes weekly) or a single 60-minute interview.

What’s involved:

8-week online diary OR 60-minute interview

Completely voluntary and confidential

Full ethical approval from Manchester Metropolitan University
