Birth has a way of rearranging you and deepening your understanding for existing.
From my perspective, this Mama took the lessons that were taught from her first labor, and it strengthened her. It secured who she is and what her needs are. She was not afraid to ask for what she needed and communicate the things that were important to her this time around. She was solid and seemed so secure walking into this labor.

Waters broke earlier in the morning and I came to check on her around 1 PM. She reported some light cramping but no contractions. Some hours later, she reported contractions started, and I made the plan to be back at her house at 5 PM. There was a comment that maybe I was there too soon… But from my observation, this Mom was advancing through her labor quickly and handling it so beautifully. We set up the tub and she got in. She spent some sweet time alone with her husband, then I could tell things were intensifying. We gathered in her room which she had intentionally made her cave. Requesting that it remained dark, calm and quiet. As contractions continued to grow in intensity, she would gather her strength and remind herself to only think and say positive things. Doubt would creep in, but she did all she could to make herself trust this process. For nine minutes the pushing was incredibly intense and she rode each wave. But before long, her baby was coming. She had requested to hear that her baby was restituting and when she asked if the shoulders were OK and I responded yes, she sunk right down and pushed her baby out with ease.

Sweet baby boy was born on March 14 at 6:39 PM. He weighed 10 lbs. 10 oz. and stood 24 inches tall! I wasn’t even there for an hour and 40 minutes and she worked this sizable boy down and out in such an impressive way. I am truly in awe of your work and so grateful to get to walk with you for a second time.

The prodromal labor had caused many fits and starts. At some moments this was depleting. But this mama did not live there. She did what she could to make sure she stayed positive and kept going. She nourished her body very well and stayed active.

When labor came the contraction pattern was less rhythmic than her prodromal contractions. Still a bit of a mystery to me but this sweet babe was definitely on the way. I arrived at 10pm to what appeared to be a sporadic very intense contraction, between contractions that would be 8, 7, 6, 8 mins apart and more mild, though her mannerisms showed intensity was moving in the right direction. At 11:11 she requested the birth tub. Contractions stayed irregular. At 12:30 I suggested a trip to the toilet to move her pelvis and help encourage progress. And suddenly the intensity hit! And regularity came! With a few intense contractions, she was headed back to the pool and it wasn’t long before she was pushing. And woah, was she powerful! She pushed with great strength then right at the end eased her baby out.

She did it. All the weeks of work was worth it. He was here and he was beautiful ✨

Mr. Joshua James was born at 1:14am on February 24th, 2026 weighing 7 # 4 oz and standing 21.5” tall. He is a sweet little bean and is adored by his big brother🤍

It is such a joy to work with you again! You and your husband are an amazing team and it is an honor to watch you work together🤍

Thank you .birthcorner and her amazing bestie and doula for making up the awesome birth team!

Best Valentine’s Day Ever! For her first 3 babes, they needed a little coaxing. 2 hospital inductions and her last babe needed some natural induction methods with her prior midwife. So when things started picking up on their own during her due week, it was a little curious… is this real? Oh it was real!
I arrived to find her hanging with her kiddos she would pause about every 4 minutes to move and breathe with a contraction, then would resume momming. Her kids were picked up and she shifted to a beautiful contraction dance with her husband. Whether standing, on hands and knees or walking through the house. He was so attentive and there for her every need. It was beautiful✨
There was a shift in intensity and we readied the pool. She requested an exam which showed it was time to get in.

It wasn’t long before pushing started ramping up. She would look up sweetly at her husband once in a while and say softly, “this sucks”. Then would sink back into her contractions and ride the waves of intensity, it almost appeared, with ease.

It seemed pushing wasn’t bringing the descent I would expect, I suggested a couple of position changes, and she was so responsive. So willing to do any little thing it took to get her baby here. She worked so beautifully. Soon baby was easing out.

Mom and dad both brought babe up to her chest. It was the sweetest joint catch. And babe was just beautiful 🤍

This was a gender surprise, so when it was time, mama announced with so much joy and some tears, “It’s a BOYYY!!” It was one of my favorite announcements and I couldn’t help but get teary.

Cyrus Wesley was born February 15th @ 8:05pm weighing 10 # 11oz and standing 22.5” tall. He had LOTS to say and has been so embraced by sisters and brother🤍

Wow. Just wow! I am still floating from your strength. This was a beautiful birth and I am so thankful to be a witness.

Thank you .birthcorner and for being there… what a dreamy team🤍

Woah.

This poor Mama deals with prodromal labor, and for those of you who have walked through this… You know that it is emotionally and physically draining.

When this Mama woke up with some contractions it was really hard to know what was real and what was not? She would have some regular contractions and then they would peter out. They would seem like they were picking up and then they would spread.

I checked in again late morning, and it seemed like contractions were picking up in regularity. I asked if she would like me to come and she said yes however, she was still not sure this was the real thing… I closed up Clinic and hopped in the car to head to her. When I arrived, I considered only grabbing my prenatal bag out of my van to do an initial assessment and decide if I was going to stay for labor or go back to clinic. At the last second, I grabbed my birth bags.

As I walked up to the front steps, I heard THE SOUND!! I rushed in the door, opened my bags and tried to gather a couple of her supplies. But in the hurry, I heard my preceptor’s voice from 13 years ago... “When babies are coming quickly, all you need are your two hands”.

So I knelt down close to mom, and she exclaimed her baby was coming. She was incredible in this intensity. She reached down to guide her own perineum. As the head was born, I checked for a cord and with a little patience, I helped the shoulders come, then mom reached down and pulled her baby to her chest..

She burst out in tears and said to her baby, “I thought you were never coming!”

But she was here. In her arms. And both Mama and Baby were doing amazing.🤍

Sweet Eleanor Rose was born fast and furious on February 6th @ 12:13pm weighing 7 # 7oz and standing 21.5” tall. She had quite a bit to say about her journey earthside. And it took babe and mom some time to come back down from this whirlwind. But when they did, it was an instant, loving bond.

Dad you were amazing! Calm, collected and a great birth assistant. Thank you🤍

Big sister and brother love their new arrival and sister has already claimed Eleanor as her own😂🤍

Mama you are power and grace all in one! Thank you for letting me be your midwife! What a joy it is🤍

Birth. Raw, brutal, beautiful, amazing Birth. Every time, is somehow worth it.

I love this mama. And was delighted to support her as a doula again for her second birth. And we all know, 2nd births are faster.. and 2nd stage is shorter, right? Welp. Birth had its own ideas for this mama.

Pregnancy had its challenges. Mainly navigating several big life changes while doing her best to sink in and nurture this pregnancy… while raising a toddler. Mamas are amazing. And truly don’t get enough recognition when pregnancy lands smack dab in the middle of so much life transition. But this mama is incredibly stoic. This stoicism carried through her labor.

Deep in her labor (after many hours of work) things were looking very familiar and similar to her first birth, it was hard not to let some defeat in. She worked and worked and WORKED. She utilized needed tools for pain management and promoting contractions. She expressed when she was frustrated and really just wanted to be done.

But she just kept going. And with her steady partner, her amazing sister and her incredible nurse midwife by her side she knew she was well held, but something was missing. She needed her roots near. She needed the sturdiness and the power of her matriarch to get to the end of this journey.

Her mama was watching her sweet toddler and did not hesitate to come when she knew she was needed. Though there was still some road to the journey, you could feel how much more complete she was having her mama near.

Her cervix was finally complete and it was exciting that 2nd stage was here! But, pushing was hard. And there were signs that baby was not happy. So with some time and a needed episiotomy, baby started to come… and the midwife helped prioritize mimi catching her grandson! It was amazing✨

Sweet baby boy needed some help with his first breaths and it was likely due to the tight true knot in his cord. But when the incredible team at KH acted quickly to help, baby boy took the baton and came in strong and vigorous to make it known he was here and happy.

Baby John “JJ” Bruno was born February 4th at 1:02am weighing 8 # 4oz and standing 21” tall.

He is beautiful and resilient just like mama…

It is an overwhelming gift to get to witness your strength. I hope you forever know how powerful you are. You truly go to the ends of the earth for your babies and they are so lucky to call you mama🤍

20 years ago today I met this man. With a first glance from across a football field, we instantly knew life would never be the same. 2 decades later, Doug is my best friend, my love and my compass through every storm. How did I get so lucky?

But what you may not realize, is Doug is a foundational part of your birth team. He cares deeply for every family that walks through these doors. He makes sure I’m well fed and caffeinated for every birth😂 and he wipes my tears and loves each mom and babe in the hard times. He is an amazing human through and through and I know forever is not long enough for me to express how grateful I am for the ways he supports me. Not to mention, he’s the best girl dad on the planet!

So help me celebrate 20 years with this ‘behind the scenes man’ on your birth team. Without him, there would be no Your Nest. Love you Dougy🤍

Ahhhh what a birth🤍
She tends to go deep into her 41st week and has with all 3 pregnancies now. She received an ultrasound that showed baby was doing extremely well. But mama was done. And even though this was her normal, she couldn’t help but worry about the upcoming 42 wk mark. She decided it was time give baby an eviction notice and boy did her baby listen🤍

The call came in the night… “my waters broke” I asked a couple questions and it was clear she was actively contracting. I felt like I flew for the 30 minute drive and Emily was shortly behind me.

We arrived to find mama breathing through contractions that were coming consistently. She requested a check before we started to fill the tub and she was 9cm! We quickly filled the tub. Meanwhile, she went to the bathroom. Walked out to sit on a bench. Had one intense contraction, and exclaimed, “He’s coming!” She slipped into the tub, had another intense contraction. And I could see even though the contraction had passed, it still had a hold on her body. I gently suggested she completely let her muscles fall between contractions and she melted. It was like her whole body leveled down and she was ready.

Birth is not easy on her husband’s adrenals😂 so there was some talk of gramma catching this sweet baby. But in that moment of level down, this mama knew she was the one. She reached down, guided her perineum and eased her baby out. Into her own hands and lifted her boy right to her chest.

Her husband beamed as this felt so smooth and controlled. Gramma was delighted (and it happened to be the 2nd grandbaby of hers born in about 12 hours:) grampa came out of the bedroom with loving tears in his eyes and it wasn’t long before big sisters were doting over their brother.

The amount of love in this room was overwhelming and this little man just might be the luckiest to have chosen a family like this🤍

Mr. Dallas Michael was born weighing 8 # 12oz and standing 21.5” tall at 1:03am on January 30, 2026.

Oooh mama. I am so incredibly proud of your work in this pregnancy. You did so much to take care of your body and prioritize making pregnancy and birth normal events for your special girls. It has been a delight to be your midwife and I wish we were doing many more births together 🤍

How do you do it? Any of it. All of it. All the time. Over all the years I’ve known you… You just walk through things like you have a manual that none of us got. I am constantly impressed by your ability to adjust an overcome to everything life throws at you. We could all learn a lot, embracing the attitude that you have about this life.

We’ve walked through Births and miscarriages together. And you were determined to walk through pregnancy and birth one last time. Baby number 10. Your bookend🤍

And boy was it a journey. Progesterone injections were necessary through much of this pregnancy. And for a mama who does not like being poked (to put it mildly) this was really hard. There were tears. There was pain. But this Mama would do anything for her babies. The curveballs kept coming. She continued to flow and follow every single one life was serving her. And at 30 wks, just when it seemed the curves were straightening, she had a heart episode. A big one. A scary one. We were in the hospital for the night. And no one could quite figure out where this was coming from and why it was happening. But unfortunately, a heart episode is one of those things that means homebirth is not the safest place for Mama.

She switched to the incredible Dr. Nathan Meltzer for the duration of her care. And with a couple more bumps in the road, it was determined to induce at 40 weeks. With a 10th baby, you would assume, that a whiff of Pitocin would do the trick. But this Mama had to wait. Over a day, and a night, and a morning. Then when contractions started, they came strong. They came close. And it was intense.

At 7 AM she was 2 cm. And baby was in her arms at 12:06 PM that is a ton of work in five hours. To say it was intense would be an understatement. She battled a mind that had a hard time believing she was safe. But nonetheless, she surrendered. And pushed her baby out beautifully right into dad‘s hands.

He is perfect. And worth every hurdle that came mom‘s way in pregnancy and labor.

It’s time for your rest. It’s time for us to nurture and love you! Time for a break from taking care of everybody else… I hope this postpartum is a dream.🤍

Sweet baby Anthony Walter Louis was born 12:06 PM on January 29, 2026 he weighs 7 lbs. 15 oz. and stands 20.67 Inches tall.

My goodness, I’m grateful your boy brought us together one last time… Thank you for all the years of letting me witness your strength🤍
