Hi fellow Zebra, I’m Julie Griffis, PT, IHWC (she/her).
I’m a physical therapist, nervous-system-informed hypermobility movement specialist, and the founder of Dazzle Health and the co-founder of Hypermobility Care Collective. I’ve been a PT since 1999, and for most of that time I’ve worked with complex, “mysterious” bodies. These days, my work is entirely devoted to people with connective tissue disorders and dysautonomia—things like hEDS, HSD, POTS, MCAS, fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, chronic pain, and chronic fatigue.
I also live in a hypermobile body with EDS and its “entourage” (POTS, MCAS, ME/CFS, etc.) myself. I know what it’s like to fail out of physical therapy because you are getting worse, and not better..to be told to “just strengthen your core,” “do more yoga,” or “it’s all anxiety,” and then flare for days from something that should have been “good for you.” That lived experience, combined with decades of clinical work, has made me a little bit of a connective tissue and nervous system nerd.
Over the years I’ve trained in:
• traditional orthopedics and sports medicine
• Pilates Method and therapeutic yoga
• Integrative Manual Therapy, CranioSacral Therapy, and Myofascial Release
• trauma-informed care and Integrative Health & Wellness Coaching
• and I’ve completed multiple Ehlers-Danlos Society ECHO specialized trainings for allied health professionals
What that really means for you is: I understand how bendy bodies, fragile-feeling joints, sensitive nervous systems, POTS-y circulation, MCAS-y reactions, and bone-deep exhaustion can all interact and gang up on you. I don’t see those things as “too much” or “too complicated” — they’re the map I use to help us figure out what your body needs.
My work is about helping you:
• feel safer and more at home in your own body,
• understand why symptoms show up the way they do,
• learn how to move, strengthen, and participate in life without constantly crashing,
• and build real body–brain trust, one small, sustainable step at a time.
In Confused to Capable and in the Hypermobility Care Collective community, I’m not here to “fix” you or push you through a cookie-cutter program. I’m here as a guide, a translator, and a teammate who gets bendy, complex bodies from the inside out. Together, we’ll listen to your tissues, respect your nervous system, and build a plan that actually fits your life, your energy, and your values.
You are not broken.
You are not imagining it.
You are not alone in this.
And I’m really glad you found your way here. 🦓💛
