Meet the GMM Toden, a crucial piece of equipment on our Coldspring campus. With its 78-inch (6’6”) blade diameter and ability to joint material up to 2’-7” thick, it significantly expands the range of work we can complete. It handles straight cuts, angled cuts up to 45 degrees, and detailed profiles with consistent accuracy, making it a versatile tool for both standard and specialized projects.

As one of 10 GMM diamond saws on our campus, the Toden plays an important role in supporting our craftsmanship and efficiency. Its capabilities help ensure that we continue to deliver high-quality stonework across a wide variety of applications.

In recognition of National Pet Day, we are celebrating Whiskey, the therapy dog who brings calm and positivity to Coldspring. Since joining his family in 2019, Whiskey has been spreading comfort and smiles, earning his therapy dog certification at just nine months old with an impressive 98% score.

His gentle presence is a reminder of the powerful role pets play in supporting mental and emotional well-being. Thank you to Jill M. Schaefer Lauer for sharing Whiskey with our team and to all the pets who make our lives a little brighter every day.

Iridian® granite, quarried in Isle, Minnesota, is a popular choice for architects and landscape architects due to its modern look, versatility, and durability. This medium-grain stone features light gray to light beige coloring with black markings, and black and/or white swirls or veining may be evident.

Architects across the country have chosen Iridian for landmark spaces, including the Ralph Carr Colorado Judicial Center in Denver, the National Japanese American Memorial in Washington, D.C., and Nashville Public Square. Each installation highlights the stone’s ability to enhance civic and public environments.

Discover the beauty and craftsmanship behind Houston Waters, a standout public art installation in downtown Houston, Texas. The project features two Rockville® White granite water sculptures paired with flowing serpentine benches that create an inviting focal point for the community.

Designed by artist Brad J. Goldberg, the natural stone structure ranges from 7 to 8 feet in diameter and 9 to 11 feet tall, forming striking water features where rippled surfaces interact with water and light. A combination of thermal, Diamond® 8, and polished finishes enhances the visual movement as water glides over each form.

Knowing how to properly refinish a bronze memorial is key to preserving its beauty and protecting it for years to come. During a recent hands-on session at Worthington Monuments in Burleson, Texas, Byron Nistler from our Foundry team demonstrated the full process from stripping the existing finish, repainting the surface, sanding and polishing letters, and applying a clear coat for long-lasting protection.

It was a great opportunity to share knowledge and best practices for preserving the beauty and integrity of bronze memorials.

In 1909, the Rockville granite operation, which would later become Coldspring®, began the century with an impressive contract to fabricate the columns for the Rotunda of the new Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul.

We are grateful to share a project created in collaboration with American Monumental Company in Colma, California, one that holds significant personal meaning for their family.

The inspirations she painted during her lifetime are now beautifully memorialized in this tribute. The dove, heart, and surrounding elements were recreated with careful attention, honoring the creativity, passion, and personal touch she brought to each piece. This memorial allows her artistic spirit to continue inspiring and connecting with others, keeping her memory alive for generations to come.

As cremation rates increase, families are looking for memorial spaces that offer comfort and beauty. Woodlawn Cemetery in Green Bay created a new semicircular columbarium garden that incorporates warm Carnelian® granite and a serene setting for reflection.
