Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility and Rehabilitation

Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility and Rehabilitation Maple Lawn, initially known as the County Poor Farm, was built in 1848 and then eventually came to be known as the Branch County Infirmary.

Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility is a Five-Star skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation center serving the residents of Branch County and the surrounding areas. Maple Lawn Medical Care and Rehabilitation Facility is a 114-bed county owned non-profit skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility with a long history of providing exceptional care. By 1954, the population became limited to those in need of nursing care. In 1955, a new 75 bed facility was opened on Marshall Road, (currently the home of the county jail). It was at that time that the County Board of Supervisors adopted the name of Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility. In 1973 the total number of beds was increased to today’s total—114. In 1986, a 1.4 milage proposal was overwhelmingly passed by the Branch County citizens to build a new [4.8 million dollar] facility. Maple Lawn moved from Marshall Road to our current location in July 1989. Since that time, four expansions have been completed. Although it is a county facility, Maple Lawn is one of only two county facilities in Michigan that is entirely self-supporting; we receive no money from the county for operations. We are governed by the Department of Human Services board and give priority to the county’s residents without regard to source of payment.
