Registered Nurse – Med-Surg
Employment Type: Full-Time, Days or Nights
Job Summary:
In this role, you will care for a variety of medical and surgical patients with complex health needs. This includes monitoring telemetry patients for cardiac arrhythmias, managing post-operative care, and addressing acute and chronic medical conditions. The RN functions within the full scope of nursing practice as outlined by the Michigan Board of Nursing and hospital accreditation standards.

Job Duties:
• Provides individualized nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
• Administers medications, treatments, and IV therapies according to physician orders and hospital policies.
• Monitors and responds to cardiac telemetry, recognizing and escalating abnormal heart rhythms.
• Engages patients and their families in care planning and education.
• Supports safe discharges by providing self-care management instructions and follow-up planning.
• Operates medical equipment, including IV pumps, telemetry monitors, and patient mobility aids.
• Documents all care activities, assessments, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Promotes patient safety through fall prevention, infection control, skin integrity management, and medication safety practices.
• Participates in unit-based and system-wide quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborates with physicians, physical therapists, case managers, and other team members to coordinate patient care.
• Supports a positive work environment by mentoring less experienced staff and participating in team-building activities.
Qualifications:
• Education: The RN in Michigan must complete twenty-five contact hours of continuing education during his/her licensure period. At least 2 hours of contact hours must be related to pain and pain symptom management. At least 1 hour of contact hours must be related to implicit bias training. BSN (preferred)
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency with EHR systems and healthcare technologies.
