Insight Hospital & Medical Center Coldwater Volunteers are pleased to award four $1,000 scholarships to Branch County residents pursuing a career in health care.

If you are planning to attend college for a health sciences program or are already enrolled in a health-related field, we encourage you to apply.

Applications are available in local school guidance offices, at area colleges, and at the outpatient services desk at the hospital.

Completed applications are due to Lisa Counterman, Volunteer Coordinator, no later than 4 p.m. on March 27, 2026.

This Social Work Month, we’re proud to recognize Brandie Smith, a social worker on our Behavioral Health Unit.

With a deep commitment to helping others, Brandie has spent the past five years supporting individuals and families through challenging times. In the Behavioral Health Unit, she works closely with adults navigating mental health needs—providing compassionate support to develop care plans, connect with resources, and take the next steps in their journey.

“Social work is meaningful to me because it is a privilege to sit with people, listen to their stories, and shine a light on the parts they have tucked away,” Brandie shares.

Her favorite part of the job is seeing patients regain hope and confidence in themselves—something she helps make possible every day.

Insight Hospital & Medical Center Coldwater is pleased to announce that Saad Shebrain, MD will be joining the Insight Coldwater General Surgery team. Dr. Shebrain is a board-certified general surgeon providing comprehensive surgical care with a focus on minimally invasive techniques and patient-centered outcomes. He treats a wide range of conditions, including hernias, gallbladder disease, gastrointestinal disorders, and soft tissue masses. Dr. Shebrain is committed to clear communication, safe surgical care, and helping patients return to daily life as quickly and comfortably as possible.
