On Tuesday, December 16th we said farewell to Velma.
Her ability to tell us history stories about the county and people will be missed, we hope she is celebrating her reunion with Bob and other family she has dearly missed.

Velma Faye Basnett, 91, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Pioneer Lodge in Coldwater, KS. Born December 16, 1934, on a farm north of Sun City, KS, she was the daughter of Edward and Mildred Bodenhamer Hart. On May 20, 1951, she married Robert L. Basnett at Wichita, KS.

We took some of the residents to the school to listen to Christmas carols this morning.

Celebrated Christmas with the employees on Friday, December 12th.
Gwen and I had fun planning games and trivia for them.
We found out that Lanetta has the best memory.
And, Lindsay has the most items on her phone, just ask her about her photos.
Melinda’s team beat Katrina’s by one bow, might hve been some good bantering during this game.
Gwen and Steven C was able to out trick there teammates to steal the most candy.
Some employees need a little more practice on being the sneakiest with dirty Santa stealing of gifts.
And, the best was desserts fixed by The Blonde Girl

Residents, Family, Friends and Employees celebrated Thanksgiving on Wednesday, November 19th.
We had approximately 110 that enjoyed a great traditional meal.
