BCAR was proud to recognize three Bronson High School seniors with the Cliffie Bowers Memorial Scholarship during last night’s awards ceremony. BCAR President Elect Liza Graham had the honor of presenting this year’s scholarships to:

The Cliffie Bowers Memorial Scholarship was established to celebrate Cliffie’s love for his community, family, and friends while supporting local students as they take the next step toward their future goals. Thanks to the continued generosity of our community and support of BCAR’s annual fundraiser, the scholarship program continues to make a lasting impact for students across Branch County.

To date, BCAR has awarded more than $78,000 in scholarships to 133 deserving students. Congratulations to Journey, Riley, and Maxwell on this well-earned achievement, and best wishes for a bright future ahead!

Call to Action - Support Housing Readiness in Michigan

Michigan is facing a growing housing shortage, and outdated zoning regulations continue to make it harder and more expensive to build housing in communities across the state. Next Thursday, the House Committee on Government Operations will hear testimony on the Housing Readiness legislation (HB 5529-5532; HB 5581-5585) that takes practical steps to modernize Michigan’s zoning laws and reduce unnecessary barriers to housing development.

These bills streamline approval processes, reduce excessive lot size and parking mandates, improve predictability for development, and expand housing options such as duplexes and accessory dwelling units. Together, the package balances local decision-making with the need for housing for working families, first-time buyers, seniors, and young professionals.

It is critical for lawmakers to hear directly from REALTORS®, who understand the real-world impact of Michigan’s housing shortage.

BCAR Members: Please check your email for the link to contact your State Representative and urge support for the Michigan Housing Readiness Package! Your voice can help demonstrate the broad statewide support for meaningful zoning reform!
