Patient of the Day: Cuddles 🐰
Cuddles stopped by Legacy today and earned the spotlight while being treated for otitis externa, inflammation of the outer ear, often associated with infection.
In rabbits, ear issues can develop for a few reasons. Their ear canals are long and can trap moisture or debris, especially in breeds with dense fur around the face and ears (like this fluffy beauty). Bacteria, yeast, ear mites, or even underlying dental disease can all contribute to ear infections.
For our bunny parents, here are a few things to keep an eye on at home:
• Head shaking or scratching at the ears
• Tilting of the head
• Redness, swelling, or discharge from the ears
• A strong or unusual odor
• Decreased appetite or acting quieter than usual
Rabbits are subtle when something isn’t right, so small changes matter.
Cuddles did great today, and we’re so glad we could help get those ears feeling better 💙
