UMD Counseling Center The University Counseling Center at UMD, Division of Student Affairs. For an appointment or more information, please call or visit us during business hours.

For emergencies call 911. Messages not monitored. Reposts do not equal endorsements. During the four years at UMD, students go through many changes and face many obstacles. The UMD Counseling Center provides free services to students who are going through academic issues, social and family issues and vocational concerns about their future. This page is not monitored 24/7 and should not be

used for emergency purposes and/or schedule an appointment. The Counseling Center’s after hours call service which is staffed by professional counselors is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for urgent mental health concerns. Should you need this service, please call 301-314-7651. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency that requires immediate attention, call 911 or proceed to a nearby hospital emergency room.

Self care can take many forms and looks different in different seasons of life. Sometimes it might be simply the essentials (e.g. sleeping, hydrating, hygiene) and other times it may be more involved (e.g. journaling, writing a letter to yourself), but all forms are worthwhile!
