Description
The Department of Philosophy at Texas A&M University, College Station (http://philosophy.tamu.edu ) seeks qualified applicants for two positions of Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2022-23 academic year. Each position is a 9 month, full-time, non-tenure track position to teach a 3:3 load (3 undergraduate courses each in the Fall and Spring semester). The salary for this position will be $50,000.

For the first position, the successful candidate must be able to teach lower division undergraduate courses PHIL 111 Contemporary Moral Problems and PHIL 251 Introduction to Philosophy, as well as upper division courses in continental philosophy and/or Latin American/Latinx philosophy. Applicants should note that PHIL111 Contemporary Moral Issues must meet the Texas A&M Cultural Discourse requirements (see http://facultysenate.tamu.edu/getattachment/Committees/Core-Curriculum/CD-Rubric-(1).pdf.aspx?lang=en-US ).

For the second position, the successful candidate must be able to teach the lower-division undergraduate course PHIL 240 Introduction to Logic (introduction to formal methods of deductive and inductive logic including, but not limited to, truth-tables, formal deduction and probability theory), as well as upper division undergraduate courses in metaphysics and/or philosophy of mind.

Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Philosophy is required

The 47th annual convention of the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy (SAAP) will be held at the Hacienda Santa Clara in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico from March 5-7, 2020. The theme of the conference is Inter-American Philosophy and will be a foundational conference in bridging North American and South American philosophies. This is the first time the SAAP Conference has taken place south of the United States border. The Hacienda Santa Clara is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Texas A&M University Signature Partner.
